Hi,

Where is a good place, either store or website, to buy cheap 12 gauges shells for messing around?

Thanks

if you are in Ontario, both Ellwood Epps and LeBaron often have specials on cheap bulk ammo.

ordering online is never cheap, since ammo needs to be shipped by courier.

WalMart (and Can Tire) often have the big bulk packs of Winchester promo rounds and they work out to be pretty cheap. unfortunately these are steel cased and generally the worst ammo you can get - it pays to spend an extra couple bucks and get proper brass hulled shot. i havent had any problems feeding the Winchester steel hulled crap through any of my shotguns but many people reportedly have.

I'm actually in Alberta, it is funny, in the states the cheapest way to get ammo is usually buying it online. Even with the shipping you can usually beat the retail stores.

Thanks

whenever i am in my local Canadian Tire or Walmart, i always swing by the ammo aisle even when i dont need ammo. they often put stuff on clearance - i picked up a few dozen boxes of Federal 00 Buckshot at Canadian Tire a while back at about half price on clearance. youll see the red tags on some types of ammo now and then and usually its a sizeable discount.

if youre into archery at all, swing by the small archery section: some great clearance deals to be had there too. ive picked up packs of broadheads for $5, and i just picked up an NAP Quicktune rest for $15 (reg price $69.99) on clearance.

US shipping is way cheaper than shipping in Canada. we get screwed by Canpost and the courier companies :(

WSS has Winchester Super Speed Xtra Game Loads for $64.99/250rds. That ends up being about 10% cheaper than Wallyworld Winchester bulks ($28.99/100rds. in my experience), or 27.3c/rd. compared to 30.4c/rd.

Wholesale Sports

I mostly get mine at Lebaron. They often have skids of target shot in cartons up front by the cash. I like the low recoil remington sluggers they carry as well.

He's right. Box of 100 shells for about $25.00. at crappytire. Thats where I get my cheep stuff for messin around.

If you look way back in the EE, you'll see i have Winchester AAs for sale, the best there is, no compromises with this ammo.

I too have seen shotguns not enjoy being fed cheap low brass (steel) winchester ammo. My buddy's 870 hates the stuff and the shells jam just about every cycle. My 590 doesn't seem to care though and 100 rounds for under 30 bucks is a great deal if you just want to put some rounds through.

My advice, go to a crappy box store and take a chance, if it works you get a super deal, if it doesn't than well you have learned a lesson for under 30 bucks.

wally world and crappy as stated have the cheap rounds. my hp9 is hit and miss with them. some days itll eject them clean, some days they get stuck part way out. i had one jam a couple weeks ago in the gun.
