Cheap 17HMR ammo source & who manufactures??

LeBaron's

EDIT: just checked my invoices.

one order was 26.50 shipping the second was 23.50.

Plus there is a $4 handling charge each, on top. so that makes it 30.50 and 27.50 to ship Canpar to my door.

Now here are examples of prices... for the same AMMO
Local 19.99/ box or LeBaron 13.45
Local 51.99/box or Lebaron 29.85

Even the mediocre stuff locally is between $2-5 higher / box then CTC or Walmart. I am talking about super-X Winchester, Remington core lokt, and blue box Federal...nothing special. at Lebaron its $17 , CTC.Walmart it's 19, and at the local gun shop it's 22-25.> Sorry NO THANKS.

Ah, but LeBarons IS local for me. In this particular case (.17HMR ammo), Clay's price is practically the same and if free shipping was offered when buying in case lots I'd give him my money in a heartbeat. I'd much rather support Prophet River if the price difference is negligible.

I agree and I have no problem with Clay's price either best around on 17hmr. Even with shipping it would be cheaper for me to buy from him then locally.

Excellent price on that ammo. I guess bottom line is I shop around for the best price on all goods no matter what or where it is.

I've yet to have ammo go bad and the price rarely goes down so ordering a lot to make the shipping worth it saves me in the long run too, as prices increase.

The only deal I ever got locally was buying some old ammo and I bought it all he told me that is the end of it at that price so I took it all. Something like 500 rounds of 22 hornet. 10 boxes of 50 rounds for like 30 odd bucks a box its like 50 odd something a box now!

Bass pro Calgary has it for 12.97 per box of 17 grain v-tip. Looks like they only have like 20 boxes though. Typical bait and switch once thats all gone.

Lebaron is by far the cheapest especially if you have there membership...I pay $13.45 -10% for a box of 50 hornady vmax 17gr.

I think this is bulls**t..... it's overpriced thats all.....
thats why I'll keep my 17 HMR for hunting small game, and shoot with 223 rem that I reload instead.... cheaper to shoot 223 than 17 hmr... pathetic

plink with 22 LR.....

I'd like to see your break down of cost to load your 223 that gives you 50 rounds for around $12.00? I have heard the same argument from guys that load 22 hornet and they can load for less than buying 17 HMR. FS

Hornady bulkbullet /100 12.50 12.5 cents each
WC735 17$/pound 6 cent each
Primers 36/1000 3.6 cents each

22 cents each. plus tax and shipping.... maybe 25 cent each.

17 hmr is around 15$ + tax here per 50, so thats 30 cent each +tax...

Owned.

Bah, I'll shoot all my surplus 17 HMR ammo, and then just keep a box of 50 for small game birds and rabbit... I like target shooting 17 hmr, but it's too expensive.

My .204 Ruger was costing me $0.33 per reloaded round

Cheapest I ever got the HMR rounds was 15.99 per 50, and normally they ended up being $17.99 per 50.

So it ended up costing them same.

HMR was nice though when I didn't want to keep track of my brass.

Plus the reloading got expensive, need multiple bushing neck sizing dies, need chronograph, need a better press, need to upgrade scale, now I need a neck turning rig, etc you know how it goes.

... a brick of poly, and a brick of FMJ for game.

FMJ for game? the HMR thrives on speed and expansion what "game" are you shooting with FMJ which would just poke a hole in something?

Youtube hmr fmj videos. It does alot more then poke a hole in what they hit. If it can blow the back out of a cantaloupe I'm sure a squirrel will be no problem.

I just got into reloading 223 and its about .35 cents a round to load that. Hmr is around .30 cents a round. Not much difference but the hmr is a pretty fun round.

Oh ya i didnt count the equipment of course, because reloading is an addiction, therefore you forget to add some items in the price to justify to yourself that you can shoot more ;)

When I've ordered ammo from clay (zee mach 2 lol), its always greyhound. I dont think there's the hazardous shipping charge w/ Ghound. Could be wrong, but my guess how the shipping costs stay low.
