Cheap .223 yote gun?

Stevens 200, in .223. I owned one, and I'm really sorry I let it go - one heck of an accurate rifle, for peanuts.

Agreed. they are cheap and cheerful and one heck of an accurate gun out of the box. I'm not sorry I sold mine, but thats only cause I replaced it with a super accurate winchester, otherwise, that stevens was a shooter!!

I bought mine on sale last year between Christmas and New year. They were on for $250 then. May not go that low again I really cant say for sure. As I said they are on now for $300. Still a good deal in my mind.

Bought mine on line and it cost me $16 for shipping and it got here in about 5 days.

Yes the triggers are bad. About a 6 lb pull and lots of creep. It catches about 5 or 6 times on its way there. Not the kind of trigger you want for varmits. I here all kinds of people are doing the trigger job. That is not my kind of thing. I put a Rifle Basixs on and I did it myself. I am comfortable with it, but would not recomend it to anyone else. I also would not sell it this way. I would put the original trigger back on and inform the buyer what I had done. But thats just me.

I'm not a member of the Savage cult, but they have treated me well so far. There are lots of great guns out there.

I have a pic of a 5 shot group I shot the other day, but I can't post it. It's under 2" at 300 yards (this is the only one I have as I only tried it once). Is that amazing? No, but I have not worked that hard at it either. I have found a couple loads that will shoot Sub MOA out of this ugly Boom Stick.

So you had no problems ordering from WSS? and would recommend ordering from them?

NO problems. I ordered a Savage 116 in 338 Win mag first. It was a bit bigger and I paid an oversize charge, but it was all up front and I knew what I was paying for shipping. They delivered in about 5 days. I then ordered the Axis a few months later. I have had orders that turned out to be out of stock and it took them about a week to let me know, but that's all I can complain about.

Ok thanks

I was looking at picking up the hunter series 111 fns for a deer rifle this year, but they dont have any in saskatchewan right now. Even though they just put it onsale but have no stock anywhere but the calgary store.

i would just like to say, i just got home from my local WSS and to my surprise they ACTUALLY had the axis in stock, they never have anything i want in stock! lol

but i picked up the .223 and some ammo, rifle and scope combo was on sale for $299 so i grabbed it as im wanting to do some cyote hunting this fall / winter. i must say at the price point, it is a great piece. havent fired it yet but the trigger does feel a little heavy, however, clean breaking. im over all very happy with my purchase.

Have the axis in .270. Pretty light weight gun for carrying around. Factory trigger is very heavy. Put in a rifle basix one and wow what a world of difference. Went to the range and sighted it in to 2.5" high at 100yds and got less than a 1" grouping with hornady rounds. Couple weeks later threw it in the holder on my quad and bounced around the bush for a full day scouting out new hunting area. 42km of rough bush trails to be exact. Last week got off early from work so i headed to the range to see if ut got affected and to my surprise shot the exact same. Very impressed with it for the price. Just ordered one in a .223
