I am reloading .300 Blackout subsonic rounds, ie .308 dia. 200GR and up, for plinking. The only bullets I can find are high quality jacketed bullets at almost $0.50 each.

Any recommendations for a cheaper option?

I am casting lead bullets for my 300 Blackout and they work fine for plinking. If your not casting bullets yet it isn't very expensive to get into.

Just bought my first mold (Pointy 230gr LEE 5r for 300blk usage) and melted down 90lbs or scrap lead into ingots.
Pretty excited about the affordability of bulk subsonic projectiles, and handgun, and rifle hunting rounds.

I use the same bullet for my subsonic loads and also bought a mold meant for the 7.62x39 for my supersonic loads. I size it down to .309 and it works really well.

Just out of curiousity, what mold are you using and what kind of accuracy/speeds have you been able to achieve?
I've yet to use anything less than 150gr in 300.

I'm using a Lee .312 diameter, 155 gr bullet under 16.5grs of Imr 4227. I then run it through a .309 sizer. I haven't shot it over the Chrony yet but there are no signs of over pressure or leading. I am heading out tomorrow and maybe I'll get a chance to measure it's speed. As far as accuracy it is the same as the 150gr campro that I also shoot. The shape of this bullet works well in my gun.

Those are the same bullets I am using but using red hard lube versus alox
How is the smoke?
Once you cast they are very cheap to make, most expensive part is usually that gas check
At .50 each you'd pay for your equipment/materials in no time

I'm not going to lie they smoke a lot.

I checked the speed and they are right around 1586 fps out of my 7.5" barrel.

I wish that somebody like CamPro or Berrys would start making cast bullets like these ( I would buy a few thousand of each type):

These were being pushed hard by Alexander Arms at the 2015 SHOT Show but vanished without a trace from their website a few weeks ago...

I did some research and the Copper Plated Bullets are made by Rainier Ballistics LLC

The lightest bullet that will cycle an AR is around 150gr.

I've tried the Campro plated 150's but they won't feed due to the flat nose. The bullet I use the most is a 150gr FMJ spritzer which I have been buying in bulk so I'm not sure exactly who makes it. It looks just lik a pulled mil bullet with a slight boat tail. I've been paying about $22 a hundred which is pretty reasonable considering bullet prices these days.
