Thought about a used rifle and getting it rebarreled, but I doubt I would go that route.https://www.basspro.ca/p/savage-110-elite-precision-bolt-action-rifle
I would buy this, install a premium custom hand lapped prefit yourself for another $1000 and it will shoot the same as the $6500 Cadex that uses Bartlien.
JC Custom Barrels will do prefits in any of their contours up to 30 inches.
JC will also use customer reamers. If you handload the 338 Lapua Ackley Improved is widely regarded as easy to tune and very accurate.
300’s at 3000fps is common out of 30 inches.
I shoot three custom barrels to 1000 in three guns with five stocks. 2 aluminum chassis, wood, fiberglass composite and fiberthane composite.
The barrels are significant. The stocks are not.
Thanks, I think that may be the route.ive fired a 112 in 338LM. Very nice rifle.
BUT, maybe its just me getting old and fragile. I did not find it enjoyable at all, even with the big muzzle brake on the end. For me, firing a 300wm without a brake is my limit for recoil and enjoyability.
So if you're familiar with the 338LM and like it, i'd say the savage 112 is a great bargain. But if you havent fired a 338LM before, try before you buy.
What are you mainly doing with it? Hunting, targets , long range targets? I have 2 338 lapua’s one fierce and one antler arms, i use the fierce for hunting, haven’t shot the antler yet, my buddy has a savage 112 BA I think it’s called but it’s not really a hunting rig, very heavy, anyways just curious on the usage planThanks, I think that may be the route.
