Where is everyone buying their target loads ? Seems like wholesale sports - score target loads @8.50/box is the best I can find.

Cabelas is cheaper than that for Challenger target loads, and they put them on sale for around $70 per flat fairly often. Their best price last year was $65 per flat.

I think the last shot manufacturer in the west was Superior Canadian in Edmonton. They closed their doors years ago.

When I used to reload many years ago powder was around $16/pound. Shot was $17/bag for a 25 pounder. Primers were around $30/1000 and wads were about $7.50/250. I figured it out to about $3.25/box in those days and that did not include hulls. You could buy Federal Gold Medals or Winchester AA's back then for around $110/case which in those days was 20 boxes(500rds). That was $5.50/box. You could save about $2/box duplicating those loads. I don't know how you can load nowadays at $5/box when powder is as much as $50/pound, shot is $50/bag etc., etc.....?? I quit loading when component costs put a box of reloads at $5 and you could buy a 250 rd flat of Federal Top Gun for $32!!

I buy my powder for 210 for a 8 lb jug, so that helps a lot - 26$/lb. If you buy from Bass Pro or Cabelas you cant afford to reload, IMO. Lead and primers are pretty much the same price as what my dad was paying 30 years ago!

5.50 for my loads are totally doable. 3/4oz #9 and pretty snappy too! And its cool because I am shooting loads you cant buy, that I can shoot 150 a day easy and not even notice it.

My component costs are well over the $8 a box that cheap target loads cost on sale in Saskatoon. That is searching out the cheapest bargains on components. Lead shot is $50 a bag landed in Saskatoon by buying a 16 bag pallet from Hummason.
If you just go to local suppliers for components, the few they have, the price to load is much worse than that.

Well that is awesome if you can find that pricing?!

I stopped reloading years ago when the price and availability of lead shoot sky rocketed. I can't find shoot at a decent price anywhere in Winnipeg. I now look for sales. I purchased 10 flats of challenger from Cabelas about a month ago on sale for 70.00 a flat. It usually runs about $80.00.

Last year I was buying Kent trap loads from the club for $75/case tax in. Don't know what they are going to cost this year. Been saving up canadian tire money to buy a couple cases there.

For Challenger target loads at Canadian Tire here in N.S. they cost $104.00 taxes in.

We buy them through the club from a local supplier for $75.00 taxes in so just a little gouging by CT.
