Cheap bipod for bench/prone shooting?

Hey guys,

I have savage 10 Police model in 308, bell and carlson medalist stock and a bushnell elite tactical 10x scope.

I am just getting into "precision shooting" and have been handloading for a while now.

I had originally bought a cheap champion 6-9" bipod but after my first range trip I found out it does not cant or pivot side to side and made shooting at distance very difficult.

Does anybody know what my best option for a cheap bipod is? This is sort of a side project right now and I don't want to break the bank... Thanks.
 
You can still shoot long distance with it easily, just make sure it's level.

Otherwise if you want a cheap, good bi-pod, get the Harris with swivel and podlock (~155 new).

Other options are Atlas, and VersaPod, but I don't like the VersaPods. I've never seen one that wasn't a hassle. I'd like to try an Atlas some day.

"Cheap" was used in relation. 150$ bi-pod is by no means cheap for what you are really getting.
 
Get a Caldwell XLA. It pivots and has spring loaded legs with notches. I haven't had any issues with mine. It's not a Harris but for half the price it sure is a great substitute.
 
The Harriss is a cheap bipod that will suit your needs. The knock-offs are not worth buying, you can sell the Harriss down the road..............the others not so easily.
 
Cabellas has their "Rock Jr" front rest and rear bag on sale for $100 right now. That's about your best "cheap" option. Otherwise, get a Harris with swivel, notched legs, and a pod-lock.

If you shoot off a bench or a solid level surface then this is the way to go. 90% of shooters will get better groups off a BR style rest then a bipod.
 
The first bipod I bought was a shooters ridge bipod, and they're perfectly fine. They're about $40.

The harris a a little better, the versapod even more so. For real bench shooting you're going to want something like a Remple, mine is incredibly well built.

I also recently picked up an Atlas and it's badass and will be my go-to bipod when I'm not using the Remple.
