I have a cooey 75 that shoots nice, and is not overly loud, but with subsonic target ammo it is really quiet.
I was just wondering if there was a brand of bulk “standard velocity” in a similar price to the 500 boxes of high velocity plinking rounds.
I like 40 grain, and it doesn’t need to cycle anything, this is for a single shot bolt action.
Thank you

Not asking for much are ya?

Been checking what has been happening in the US? Ammo shortages and all that?

Buy what you can and enjoy it while it lasts.

CCI SV (standard velocity) you can buy in 5000 round cases. If you aren't really interested in accuracy you can also get CCI quite, which is only 710fps I believe but almost as quite as CBs.

It s very waxy though.

Try Fed Standard Velocity. 40gr, reports are it shoots as good as CCI Standard Velocity.

I have found that to be true. Another option would be SK Magazine if you can find it at a decent price these days. I bought a tin to try last year and found it to be as good or better than CCI SV so I went back and bought a bunch more of the same lot at 12 cents a round. Probably not going to find it at that price now but it has been great in my CZ’s.

I tried sone SK Magazine and it was not impressive in my guns.

Fed SV 40g RNL is a good cheap alternative to the 'high-priced spread', as is CCI-SV but the CCI runs about $8-10/bx around here. I bought a couple thou of each last year at about $3-4/box. I have a B22 and can get 1/2-3/4" with the first two. Some SKPlus did a tiny bit better but twice the cost- around $10 here. Also got some SK Mag for $62/500 but haven't fired any yet.
That's a great price on the Aguila, I've shot that and it's pretty good, but none left around here. And shipping $$ will bite you.

Well, I usually have an answer (I believe to be true :) ) to allot of the questions on here, but not this one. The only times I've ever owned/played with an open-sight, single-shot rifle...I saw it as an opportunity to use-up whatever I had kicking around that didn't shoot well from my scoped guns. I now have some odds and ends, and no single shot to gobble them up! lol OP-what kind of targets do you shoot at, and at what distances? (out of curiosity)

I am not a great shot, so I use it to practice so I can get better at it. At the range, I mostly shoot paper, or the 6” gong from standing and the 2” gong sitting at a shooting table. It keeps me from getting too focused on the target, and more about hit the correct size target quickly. At 50 yards.
I can be more accurate if I take my time, but working on speed while reasonably accurate is just as important to me. This is my fox go by by gun, I have chickens and live on an acreage.
That is kinda why I want the subsonic. The standard velocity is so quiet, I don’t think the neighbors could hear it.
Even the hv is not very loud. I think my air nailer is louder.

This. If quiet is your thing, go with CCI quiet. The LRN is indeed waxy, for a premium you can get copper plated segmented HP which performs better as a pest control round and is cleaner. Neither have been ideal for even small varmint in my experience, but accuracy has been acceptable. "Cheap bulk" LRN can be found relatively ubiquitously but the CPSHP tends to dry up fast.
