Any sugestions for a cheap scope for my $100 .30-06?
This is a bubba, cheap knockabout gun. I just want a simple cross hair, but it has to be up to an '06 recoil.
What's the cheapest thing worth putting on?

Tasco is pretty cheap...quality is questionable though...You can probably find a cheap bushnell banner on the EE, those aren't bad.

No thanks on the Ncstar. I got one for my m14, it lasted about 20 rounds of .308.
Tasco is'nt much better, I'm probably looking at the most basic bushnell rated for a centrefire.

buy a bushnell off the EE but nothing new will do NOTHING. was out at the range will folks with $400 rigs on their 30 cals and the bullets were wondering. You spend a lot of money on the hunt don't cheap out on the optics or the rings, get good with the irons, borrow a good scope or good gun and scope but DON'T USE CRAP its not fair to you and your efforts and its especially not humane to the animal. by they way I just bought tow Leupold VX3's for $200 a piece, you can find deals, buy used if your budget is low but buy good used, leupold, bushnell or burris,

For the purposes you stated a new Vortex Crossfire 2-7X or 3-9X would work great for you. They retail around $150 and have a No Fault Unconditional Lifetime Warranty, which essentially means as long as you don't mess with the guts, your covered. Check 'em out...

Look for a used Weaver K4, made of steel in the U.S. You can probably get one in good serviceable condition for under $100 and it will probably last as long as the gun.
