I own 3 rimfires, all 3 are under $200 brand new (mk2f,795,m93), and I really enjoy them. Great guns imo, accurate and reliable. Would love to continue this trend. :D

What are my options for a .22lr Revolver under $300? (brand new... if possible)

I know S&W and ruger make the best revolvers, however, they are out of my budget. I shot a hi-standard double 9, DA is very heavy, but SA is fine, good enough for a noob like me, I guess.

There must be some bargains on revolver side, right?

Used H&R revolvers show up on the EE and elsewhere from time to time. They made several models of 9 shot .22s. Almost all of them sell for under $300 (usually more like $200 - $250.) Not the greatest quality but they're reasonable, serviceable guns.

Personally, if I wanted to own another .22 revolver I'd look for a used Ruger New Model Single Six. They're common and I've seen them offered for around $450 or less. By the time you pay tax and shipping on a new $300 gun you're almost there anyway and Ruger quality is legendary.

My Dad had an H&R (I think it was the Marshal model), a 9-shot single action with a very long barrel. I remember firing it when I was 3 years old until age 6.

I picked up an Old Model Ruger Single Six for $250 it doesn't take the Magnum cylinder and it was dirty when I got it but it cleaned up nice and shoots great, had it out last weekend.

My uncle had one when I was a kid (model 922.) Back then it seemed like it made a tremendous bang when fired. I bought one exactly like it a few years ago on the EE, mainly for sentimental reasons. It was in excellent condition; probably sat in someone's night table for the last 40 years. Kind of an awkward piece and not very accurate, but would probably meet the OP's requirements. On the whole, though, I much prefer semi-autos.

People can often find Herbert Schmidt revolvers for a (relative) song....:)....

I have a long-barrel, wooden-gripped single-action .22 LR that I think cost $175, and a 4.5-inch barreled .22 LR/.22 Mag single-action I picked up for $125 (though I had to fix the ejector rod on that)....:yingyang:

Thanks guys. I see my tight budget can also be a somewhat chooser, if I keep my eyes on EE.

I was thinking to add a Mosin/SKS/TT33 to my collection. However, still in noobie fever stage, I spend on average 5hrs @ range on every visit. Even the surplus ammo will cost a small fortune, .22lr is still the way to go for now. I think I became an addict. :D

I bought this SW 17-3, 5 or 6 years ago for around $300.

It is a dream to shoot. It makes me think I'm an OK handgunner. Then I shoot my 1911 and the illusion vanishes.

I bought a Heritage Rough Rider for $299. It shoots great, came with fiber optic target sights and an extra 22mag cylinder. Can't beat that! It's copy of the Ruger single Six
