cheap cool/tacticool rifle choices ?

My Mossberg 715t has cycled perfectly through an entire brick of cheap Remington bulk 'golden bullet' without so much as a cleaning.

Which is important, since you need to remove like a hundred screws to get at the plinkster inside the clamshell - Not exactly a quick field strip...

Anyway, high-velocity ammo is key with any semi auto .22.

Sure it feels cheap... It WAS cheap. My only regret is not getting the flat-top... The carry handle is non-removable and while you can still mount an optic on top of the carry handle, the bore offset is ridiculous.

The accuracy is definitely not as good as my 10/22 with a bushnell banner scope, but that's because the rail attaches directly to the metal receiver on the 10/22 and on the 715t it attaches to the plastic clamshell - Must be some wiggle room in the furniture because it doesn't do well out past 50 yards... My 10/22 can hit a rabbit in the eye at 100yds 10 times out of 10.

One more thing...

The 'iron' aperture sights are plastic and the forward post is xboxhueg - I wouldn't expect to hit the broad side of a barn using those.

Just throwing this out there since there seems to be a bit of discussion about exceeding the original budget you posted. I've had the HK 416D going on three years now. Never had any feeding issues. The only problem I have encountered was the plastic 'bumper' in the upper cracked in half after about 500 rounds. Bought several replacement bumpers since it seems the material (plastic) doesn't seem to be as tough as I would like. One day I will appropriate my wife's cutting board and make my own since that white plastic stuff is tough as nails. Accurate enough for what it's intended for.

Sorry, I just gotta comment..." My 10/22 can hit a rabbit in the eye at 100yds 10 times out of 10."
Given a rabbits eye is less than 1/2"...your telling us your 10-22 is .5MOA or better 100% of the time?
And then we wonder why we get all the noobs who can't understand why their new gun is only shooting 1" groups at 50yds (which is fine for an out of the box Savage/Marlin)., and think they have a faulty gun.

The rabbit might care but i don't.................................................... This thread is about cool tactical rifles, not your rabbit chasing 10/22. Besides, i shoot at paper and tin cans. :sniper:

Ok... Maybe I was employing a little bit of hyperbole to make my point - No need to get autistic about it.

The point is, my old fashioned 10/22 with it's wooden stock and Roy Rogers barrel band is more accurate than my 715t by far...

Also - SATX's HK416d is absolutely beautiful... In a completely different league than the Mossberg, but also 2.5 times the price.

Im not sure wich 715t he has but mine came with metel sights but never used them just a red dot and its not bad for acuracy so i guess there all different as for hitting eyes at 100 yards dont think so ....i guess i need more practice

Sportsman...I didn't mean to sound too harsh.
It's just that this and most other forums are full of newbies who are really disappointed with their new guns because they think they should be able to core an apple at 100yds.
And I'm not saying you aren't capable of some damn fine shooting...I just wish that people would tell the whole story.
For example...my Savage .22WMR can put 5 shots in .75" at 100m fairly consistently...but I have a scope on it that was twice the price of the gun...the stock screws are all properly torqued and I've had the trigger worked on so that it breaks at a clean 1.5lbs.
It sure didn't shoot this well out of the box.

I don't think anyone buys the mossberg with the purpose of getting a good group p 100yds. It's just a fun tacticool plinker.

Is that rule not intended to prevent buying and selling of guns on the forums?

I don't think that's what's going on here.
Not sure, I`ll look into it. I was informed that it is against the rules to ask what other people have seen for gun prices across Canada. I`ve seen ads where guys have their guns inflated quite high and it made m wonder "did they actually pay close to that where they are from?" So I asked the question, and I guess anyone mentioning what they paid for their guns is against the rules OR maybe its "asking what other people have paid" is against the rules. I`ll ask and see if I can get it defined.

We are just trying to keep the forums clean of millions of "what is my gun worth" posts can easly be answered by Google search" If you have some strange gun I can understand asking the price, but an every day gun is easy to find the value.

Also a very select few are using these posts to sell guns via PM and not the EE.

I had the Baikal for a while it ate everything functioned better than my 10/22 or my buck mark rifle but was very inaccurate it was minute of gopher at 50yrds but at 100 it took more than one round to hit them I was disappointed in the accuracy But the function was great

Bingo i agree i just got mine to shoot cans and targets with the kids im sure there are much better acurate rifles but price point for cheap fun its good once bugs out cheers

I have heard nothing but positive comments on the reliable functioning of Baikal MP161K except for the limitation of 9 round magazines , but that just means buy more magazines ! :D
