Well I was looking for a cheap gun case that I could bring atleast 2 pistols to the range. I found a Mezzi case on ebay (lockable and cheap) and ordered it. I just received it and cut out my shapes from the foam. I think it looks good. It has the 3 digit locks like on a brief case which are cheap but I never leave the pistols unattended from my house to the range. Now, before you guys say anything, Yes! I'm aware that the ammo is not suppose to be in the case, I wasn't thinking when I was cutting the foam. It gives me room for other stuff like earplugs, glass, beer:D ... Maybe I should put my holster there.

So what's cheap? Well $46.00 plus shipping of $25.00 or so. Yes, I know there is probably better and cheaper out there, but I like the size and when everyone asks me what's in the case, I reply "Ever see a million dollars before?" :)

Why cant ammo be in the case??

I though that the ammo could not be transported in the same case unless it was locked in a seperate container. Am I wrong? I always carried them in my ammo can that was also locked, never in the case the pistol or rifle was in. I might be ok if the pistol has a trigger lock.

don;t press luck

hey what happened if the police pulled you over and they did;nt have a sence of humor???? I;d keep it seperate from the pistols . your choice . :dancingbanana:

I keep mine in a separate locked box as well, along with my other range stuff- just because I consider it a good idea not to have all my eggs in one basket, as it were. A lock physically on the firearm is required for transport of Restricteds either way.

Your setup is fine, just put trigger locks on the pistols. May be a good idea to keep a copy of the transport regs in there as well.

I was just saying if pistols are required to have a trigger lock, is it then legal to carry ammo in the same case according to the law? or does it still need to be seperate? I'll go check it out on the CFC site.

Nothing on the CFC website that addresses storage of ammunition during transport, only addresses storage of ammunition, unless I missed it. So if the RCMP stands by the info on their site, then you should be good to go.

Well Couldn't find any info on transportation of Ammo. I thought I heard that from the instructor that gave us the restricted tranning course. I should look in my books. Anyway, I just wanted to show off the case. I'm happy with it. :)

when I did my restricted a few months back the instructor said your pistol must be trigger locked and in a case that is locked for transport and if you have ammo it can be with the gun provided its not that much. I didnt really understand that so when I did the exam the examiner asked me to prepare a pistol for transport to the range and I did and he asked me what about the ammo? and I said I will put it separate unless I dont have that much then i can put it in with the pistol and he said that is correct. go figure.
and a very nice case setup you have there.

You can put ammo's in the same case, no problem there. The guns must be trigger locked either way.

FAQMAT, i was just about to say that is true everywhere but in Quebec.
Obviously you haven't been through the law-9 class yet, new stuff in there.
