Canadian Tire has them on special this week.. $19.99 for a small key/keyless safe (via programmable electronic code). You have the option of either using the provided keys (2) or to temporarily close the key hole and use the electronic keypad (however, the key can still be used in case the batteries die or what not).

I picked up two for myself today, this tiny little thing could fit almost anywhere... including a wall or office-style desk or what not. Here are some pics to put things into perspective:

Nice & soft padding so that your gun doesn't get scratched (safe comes with it):

Walther P-38 inside safe (still some room left for extra mags):

I tested this with several of my pistols and all my 9mm automatics fit. The best fit is on the Norc M213 (aka Tokarev TT-33), the Walther goes in no problem but has to be positionned as pictured. My Glock 17's grip is too fat, therefore the pistol has to be put 'standing vertically' in order for the safe door to close, although it still fits in there quite well. I'm pretty sure a Colt .45 would fit as well. None of my two 6"-barrel revolvers fit, however (too long).

Anyway, I think that it's an awesome buy for 20$. You're in full compliance of the law and can now store your restricted semi-auto in a tiny, easily accessible safe. Due to its' size, you can hide this little bugger almost anywhere, thus making your handgun(s) much harder to find & steal. I tested this safe several times and the keypad works flawlessly. Despite the cheap price, it doesn't feel that bad actually. The entire body & door are made of steel (not heavy gauge, but sufficient for it's size & purpose - the steel is as thick as any standard $150 gun cabinet, I'd say). Also, It has no exposed hinges which is another big plus.

Note: if you were to stack handguns vertically, I'm sure you could at least fit 3 or 4 in there. If you plan on buying this, make it quick... as both my local CT's were sold out and I bought mine at a third CT which had only 3 left... The special has been on since Friday. Happy hunting!

Got me a couple as well. For $20 it's a cheap way to legally store your handgun. Also like the fact that it's so small, and even comes with anchor bolts. Pretty sturdy too.

nice find! thanks for posting this. not fire proof, but still pretty good for $20.

hope i can find one at my local CT

I went to my local CTC store on sunday , the sale started saturday...51 were in stock, all sold out in three hours. One guy bought 15...they put up a hand written sign limiting one per customer after that.
Didn't get one.
Next time!

Get a rain cheque! Things are valid for three months after date of issue and they should even let you know when they get more stock.

I don't know if they're gonna get more of these... I spoke to a clerk at a CT which had all of them sold out and he recommended that I go see at Wal-Mart for a safe, because all CTs he knew about were sold out and there wasn't any more coming (to his knowledge). Luckily the CT stock computer at the hardware dept. said different and I was able to locate some at another CT not too far away. Never take 'no' for an answer! :p

I mounted this little guy into a nice inconspicuous location around the house today and quite frankly I think the mere size of it keeps my guns safer than the larger & tougher but much easier to find gun cabinets/safes (my large gun cabinet is emptier now, lol). If I was unaware of its' presence in the house, I bet it would take me a few months (maybe even years) to find it... but once you know where it is, you can get to it in less than 10 seconds from anywhere around the house, lol. I love it.... :D

I think I'll go hunt for more tomorrow. It's a long shot to find them in a heavily populated area such as Montreal, but worth a try at this price. It'd be good to have one hidden on every level of the house with an el cheapo M213 inside! All nice and legal... ;)

I just got back from on in Surrey and she practically laughed at me, they went fast. There is a slightly bigger and heavier duty one there for 56 that looks similar (regular price).

I have one bolted inside my side table, with a USP, tac light and 3 mags of Corbon JHP's ready to rock.

Damn door crashers, lol...

Tip: Some guy at CT (clerk) has told me that he saw the same ones at a local Wal-Mart for the same price, but this is heavily unconfirmed info. If any of you live near a Wal-Mart, you may want to give it a try... I know they have the 'Sentry-Safe' brand of different safes, but I'm unaware if they have the ones CT sells as well. The CT brand is NOT 'Sentry Safe'.

Like I said, this is totally unconfirmed info that I've got from a 16-18 year old CT clerk, so take for what it's worth... :ninja:

Anytime there is a good deal at a Canadian tire, some "South Asian" gentleman buys the whole lot to sell at flea markets. The rest of us never get a chance to buy one.

What an assh*le, lol... I guess we're gonna see them popping up on ebay.ca pretty soon at $30 a piece + 20$ shipping. And maybe a few in the EE forums... Typical.

Besides, why the hell does this guy buy them from CT? Doesn't he have a few cousins who work at the factory these safes are made at? He should get hooked up with a better deal, lol!

:p

EDIT: Here we go! I did a little search... probably your Viet-Cong guy or someone just like him...

Yay, I bought mine tonight! The CT in my area were dry, I had to drive 25 minutes to get one (Cool thing it was on the route to my dentist :p), there was only 4 left :)

Got mine... now, I need my rpal to buy something to fill this safe ^^

I bought one and still can't figure out how to open it?!? When I went to CT, they told me there was ONE left and the clerk said that he would be happy to get it for me. I seen him go to the return's area and ask the gal behind the desk if it was still there. After finding out it was back out in the store shelves he retrieved it and brought it to me. Getting home and opened it I wasn't able to find the keys. Shaking it I can hear them inside  So now I'm thinking that the guy before me returned it after locking them inside and got a new one. Is there something I'm missing or should I return it???

^^LOL, now that is funny:D

Yeah, just return it... or try to figure what code the other guy has programmed on the keypad. If i make a rough calcul it make 100,000 different possible code. you better start now.

If the factory code hasn't been changed it may be set to 0-0-0-0 or 1-2-3-4 or somemthing like that.
