Just curious to hear what people have come up with. I need to buy one, but I'd rather not spend a lot of money and not use something that advertises itself as a handgun case.

Would like to carry at least two handguns + mags.

buy a cheap briefcase with the combination locks on the latches. some egg-crate tyoe foam and you're all set.

Those plastic cases that cordless tools come in can be good. Also tool boxes. I have used an old briefcase as well.

Canadian Tire has an Aluminum tool case for about $30. You will have to buy and install a lock on it though
I got one from WalMart as well...but I tend to use regular small pistol cases more often (you can get one for $5-10)...

I use a lockable tool 'bag' from Cdn Tire, cost me $11. has a non-lockable lower compartment, put targets and ammo in there. Pens, membership cards, gun logs in the pockets on the outside

hmmm, I think I will stick to hard cases. I don't think a bag would be considered secure enough by an over-zealous OPP constable.

PS I think that rules out mom's purse as well :p

A lockable opaque container is all thats required .
A dollar store courier bag with a dollar store lock ( total about $2.50 ) will be all thats legally required .
It's not what I use for the range but it works well for shipping .

They come with keyed lockable latches. I have two myself, one I figure will hold up to four handguns, and the other will be my gear/ammo case.

I've been using a Samsonite briefcase with built in combo locks and egg crate foam for the last 20 years. It was 'near new' and cost me a whopping 10 bucks at a garage sale and the foam was scrounged up at work. It'll hold 3 pistols easily and up to 4 if creatively placed. I also have Pelican 1520 cases but they cost me almost 15x as much as my Samsonite......

Screw the cheap and inconspicuous route.

Up to 6 mics rest in peace inside this way-slick, plush-lined little coffin. Rigid construction with scratch-resistant textured-metal-finished vinyl covering and steel-reinforced corners protect your investment without fail. Includes shoulder strap and accessory compartment. Case can also be used as a gun case for handgun enthusiasts.

I had a break in a couple of months ago and had some antique handguns and a replica handgun stollen. Camera gear also. My locked breifcase was in the same room. Inside were two handguns and a bunch of magazines. These were left behind.

Who wants a breifcase with a bunch of papers inside? I have been using a breifcase for a number of years. A tool box is ok but why does it have a lock on it? Must have something interesting inside. Also tools are easy to sell if stollen.

That's sad to hear Rudy. Its 100% true that most burglars are opportunistic, grab what is obviously available and of the highest perceived value, and run.

Don't be slapping S&W, Beretta etc stickers all over your case either.
