Cheap m305 scope mounts?

There is the Millett One Shot Tactical suggested, there is also a $140 aluminum one available from m14.ca Depending on what you want to do with the rifle (plinking I believe?) I would go with either of those coupled with a Bushnell Banner scope as a minimum.

The reality is that M14 is about as violent an action as you can get and pounds the mount and scopes pretty hard. If we were talking about a bolt action Remington i would say grab the cheapest set of rings and scope you can find. Unfortunately I would say the $ you spend in an optic and mount for this rifle platform would be worth it. If you go as cheap as you want, you may find the rifle will experience a 'wandering zero' as the mount and scope cannot hold up. I personally met a fellow M14 enthusiast at the range who installed an NC Star Mount and Scope. He was cursing and swearing at not being able to hit anything at 100 yards. I grabbed my tool box and reluctantly convinced him to take the mount and scope off. His rifle then shot great with the irons.

For general plinking, my vote goes for irons. Can't beat em. They'll never break, they'll never loose zero, they are FREE and ... well ... did I mention they are FREE :)

Later on, once you've had enough plinking and want to get a little bit more from your rifle, nothing says you can't save up a year or two for a nice mount/scope for your baby!

True about the NC star don't waste your time and money it sucks! And I do have first hand knowledge

Couldn't find anything on the NC star mounts in the stickies??

I posted one...a while ago. Do yourself a favour...don't even think about the NC Star..it is nothing more than a 100 yard target to shoot at once you buy a good mount for your rifle. Had to make up a shim for it, as the mount was noticably off centre. Horrible, just horrible.

Yup, I have it and an ARMS mount sitting in grease waiting for me to get enough ambition to beg Hungry to help me mount it :D

No worries, mate! Come on up here to Georgian Bay area. After Boxing Day, I got a wide open calendar for the most part! We'll get that baby mounted fer ya!

i use the nc star mount with a nikon prostaff 2-7x32 shotgun scope. the scope is light enough that the mount holds it well. can see holes in 100 yard target , no trouble at all.

I've seen super cheap NC star scope mounts for like $20 but I see guys dropping $200 on scope mounts on these forums.

Is it safe to say the NC star mounts are junk?

I was thinking about picking up a norinco m305 and slap a cheap scope on it and just use it for plinking but I'm not gonna throw a $200 mount on a $400 gun.

Sometimes cheap really is just cheap. I would not use any mount that is NOT made of steel.

the price of m305 does not directly reflect build quality or performance. Starting with a cheep scope and mount will only make you think the gun is cheep. The recoil and action will hammer the s**t outta the mount and scope. A mount made out of soft metal WILL come lose and throw off your zero and a cheep scope will eventually fail. you can buy quality once, or go cheep and pay for it over and over.

YES! Thank you.

Sadlak, ARMS, SEI... focus your attention there.
