I had been eyeing one of these rifles for a while on Trade Ex, that is one with a Hellqvist peep sight.
On my birthday I decided to roll the dice and order one.
Number match but it is a bit of an oddball, as expected.
I will be going to the range in the next few weeks and will update.

Not the greatest muzzle, but lots of barrel length left if it needs to be chopped.

Strange contact point lug on barrel, pinned through forend.
Not sure what this is about....

Pressure point in the forestock, common feature in old Mauser stocks to help consistency with skinny sporter barrels. Weatherby Vanguard's still use the same method today as well.

Nice rifle, but the muzzle crown could need a tune up I reckon. If she shoots good, then a Timney trigger is a good investment.
Dang, I really gotta get me a Hellqvist peep for me Tradeex 96 in 9.3x57.

That bolt is not original to the action. What was the described condition of this specimen?

You can see serial numbers?
The bolt handle is bent, normal gunsmith sporter work, everything looks pretty well done and it was well taken care of.
Nice rifle.

Great set-up. I have a similar Husqvarna - 8x57 with Hellequist sight. Just a sweet one hand carry rifle. Small ring, solid left wall, so I think it is a Husqvarna 648, but I am a bit fuzzy on the Husqvarna designations...

^^It would have a serial on the handle that matches the action if it was the original bolt to this action!

Maybe just the pics but I cannot see any serial on the handle where it is supposed to be.

When bolt handles are bent like that, it's done by a gunsmith using forging or cutting/welding. It's been cleaned up and blued, so the serial number would have been removed in the process.
All the work on this one looks very well done, I would not have any concerns shooting it.

That's a rework, probably an offering from Vapen-Depoten - who sold many of these reworked ex-mil rifles. Impossible to tel you the model without a picture of the whole rifle. But it's likely a M 3-D or 30-D or 30-D Lyx....
