Cheap place to buy bulk shells (Vancouver Island-->Victoria)?

There was a time when Sterling Cross would sell Black Goose at great prices to VFGPA members. Shipping free too.
That was back in 2016 and I think things have changed.

Approach your club shotgun (person/organizer/whatever...) and see if your club has some sort of deal with SCDS.
You might be able to do a group buy - though you might have to do the leg work yourself (turn up for a clays shoot and get to know them).

Picked up a case of 250 today for 75 bucks from italian sporting goods in vancouver. They also sold me a case of 115 grain 9mm american eagle for 250. Price tag was 279 but gave me the deal with out batting an eye

This would be the obvious approach to me. Get a group together, buy 5000 shells at once (200 cases) and hopefully get them as close as possible to 7$ a box of 25 (under 30 cents a shot!)

That would be $2.25 a box in 1980,

What did comparable shells cost then or close to?

Would almost seem it’s cheaper to shoot some shells today.

I wasn’t buying shells in 1980 but I remember cases or 500 AA’s for +/- $100 in the early nineties. I remember filling a shopping cart with individual boxes of 25 AA’s when the local Walmart quit selling them around 2000. I paid $4.50 a box. There was a time when AA’s, STS or Nitro’s and Gold Medals were not that much more expensive than the “promotional” loads. Now they are $30 to $50 more. I saw Federal papers on the weekend for $165 a case. The importation of European made shotshell and Kent and Challenger were the best things to ever happen to Canadian shotgunners.

Short answer would be you are correct, shells prices are not that bad if you can live without the “premium” brands. I know I can.
