Cheap scope for a 10/22?

:D

Have an older Leupold Vari II 3-9x40 sitting on my heavy barreled stainless Ruger Model 10/22 T.

I've had less than impressive results with the Tasco's & the cheap Chinese "blister pack" scopes.

If the gun's worth owning it's worthy of decent optics.

me and the wife have 4 of the tasco 2.5x10x42 varmit mildots on are rimfires.
ones on my 10/22. had them about 10 years now, and thousands of gophers.
paid 79.99 at p@d. we have beat the crap out of them, and they are still dead
on.

Bushnell Sportsman 3-9 x 32mm at about $55-ish brand new is my favourite "dirt cheap scope". No need for a 40mm objective on a rimfire, IMHO. I've killed many an animal (big game and small), and had much enjoyment target shooting while looking through one of these little scopes. Even the fixed 4x would probably suit you just fine on a rimfire. The optical quality isn't exactly stellar, but then it is certainly as good or better than anything else in the "$50 scope" class -- and it is certainly clear enough to suffice when trying to draw a bead on a critter or target at rimfire ranges.

Though, keep in mind, that for not that much money, you can get a much (much) nicer scope. WSS will sell you a Vortex Diamondback 2-7x Rimfire scope for $219. The glass on one of those is easily comparable to scopes costing twice as much (and then some) (in the same league as a Nikon Monarch, Leupy VX-II, Bushy 4200, etc).

Canadian Tire sells a Bushnell 3-9x40 for $89.99 is that any good?

Cool....Is $89.99 a good price though?

The cottage is in Cobourg. I wish I could say it was mine but it's my buddies. It's right on Rice Lake.

If you are willing to wait and don't mind a slighty older Bushnell 3-9x40 ;), they come up on the E & E for around $45-$60 shipped/local pick-up often enough. :)

I bought my 3-9x Bushnell rimfire scope for my semi .22 for somewhere between $30 and $40 at Wholesale Sports.

You shouldn't be paying $60 for one, never mind $90!

Cheap scopes with magnifications are like looking through a paper towel tube with saran wrap on both ends.Dark and distorted.
If you don't want to be squinting and rubbing your eyelashes off I say go on Ebay and look at reflex sights
out of Hong Kong. They have unlimited eye relief, are very clear and come in under $100 shipped.
I would not put one on a centre fire or a shotgun but they will stay zeroed in just fine on a rim fire.
Good luck with your shopping and your shooting.
