cheap scout scope/long eye relief scope?

good morning boys and girls, my father in law recently bought a Chiappa X-caliber rifle. He's having a hard time seeing the sites and needs a scope, he doesnt want a red dot because there is no zoom. we tried to fit a magnifier on the rail but its just too damn short to make anything work. he got a vortex cantilever ring mount with a 2'' offset for christmas, now he just needs a cheapish scope to put in it. his budget is hopefully no more than 300. anybody have any ideas?

I've used the Hi-Lux from Wolverine, and I also have a Vortex. Both great scopes. Both under $300

Have a vortex crossfire II scout 2-7x32 on my mosin and it works great. Cost 230$ ish

A buddy of mine just put a scout scope on his ruger gunsite vortex crossfire 2-7×32. Excellent scope, lifetime warranty. Under 300

Ditto the Hi-Lux.

Put one on my M44 and took my first buck with it 3 years ago.
