What are some good cheap semi auto rimfire? By cheap i mean cheaper then 10/22.

I already have a bolt action .22lr that satisfies my accuracy needs and want a semi-auto for just fun.

What about the:

marlin 795
or savage 64f

The Marlin 795 or 60 are both very reliable and nice shooters. One has a mag and the other with a tube, whichever you prefer. Assorted finishes from stainless, blued, wood to synthetic. Very good value, and quality. I believe Cabelas had a package, synthetic, blued with a scope for 209.00.

Cooey/Lakefield/Savage 64.

Cons: 10 round mags, no aftermarket upgrades, old-school apprearance.

Pros: cheap, plentiful, simple, old-school apprearance, cheap.

Did I mention they're cheap? ;):D

That old model 64 they mention above has been sold under so many brand names. I had a 64b that I believe was marketed by cooey. It was a decent gun.

Rem 597 base model. Don't get one of the fancy ones, just the most basic one you can find. You can put a Volquartsen trigger in it and it shoots like crazy.

Although my Marlin 795 looks and feels like a toy, it shoots better than i ever could have expected and has been extremely reliable. A purchase i certainly dont regret.

I had mine out at the range today.. i have the tech sights tsm200 Gi peep sites ...i could see the target very well..very impressed...very easy to see and hit... i like the last shot bolt hold open...one of the most comfortable semi auto 22 i have owned...its easy to clean.. and its light... it feeds on any thing... it is a very good value.i too certainly do not regret buying it
