Hi guys, how do you guys polish your brass? Any make-it-yourself cheap tumblers? And where can I buy corn meal media in the Lower Mainland?

Thanks!

Media...for cheap

For media I use corncob that I buy for realy cheap at the local petstore. Its used for litter for reptiles and hamsters and stuff. Costs around $5 for a 5 lb bag or $25 for a 40 lb bag!

Brass comes out shiny as new after a few hours in my Lymar turbo 1200 tumbler!

I got my Lyman corn media from Italian Sport.
Oh god, tell me you didn't get suckered into buying the RCBS tumbling media.

Got the Lyman treated (green) corn media. $10 for 2Lbs I think. Works great, no need to add polish. I don't see a problem so far?!

Guys, unless you only load a few hundred rifle cases, do yourselves a favour. Go out and get the biggest motherphucking tumbler you can find. The Hornady M3 is a good place to start. It will do 1000+ 9mm cases at a time. It's $130 from Higginsons.

If you like Dillon, there's are a good buy, and you are going to want the media seperator anyway.

The small tumblers have their place, but buy the one you really need first.

If storage space isn't a concern, look in your yellow pages under abrasives and see who's got the 50# bags of 1420 grit corn or walnut.

That's not so bad. I was afraid he had bought the RCBS stuff at around $24 for 2lbs.

+2 -Awesome advice on both counts.

I wonder about tossing a bunch in sealed plastic containers of some sort, and tossing them into the dryer (on cold) for a while...

I know some of the guys (dealers) into mass quantities use cement mixers...

Get her a Gift certificate at a spa somewhere, and have the run of the house yourself for a few hours

Even better, make her do it for you every week, show her who is the head of the house.

Knew a guy who fastened a large square bucket to an old record turntable then lifted one side of the turntable so it was 3 or 4 inches higher than the other side. Put in media and brass and let it run for a day or two at the slowest speed. It was cheap and seemed to work but I think it took much longer than commercial ones.
