Cheaper scopes- Nikon, Burris, Bushnell, vortex

Bushnell - made in Japan (used 3200, 4200 are best value)

Burris (full fields are solid, and good value)

Nikon's were great value - as I remember it monarchs were optically superior to LEUPOLD VX-3's, but service and support- you might be on your own there as Nikon got out of the rifle scope business.

Although Nikon is in fact no longer making rifle scopes, their line-up was redesigned and resurrected by Crimson Trace Optics.

I would stay with the Bush-Line Pro Series Models and up.

Lifetime warranty, made in the Philippines like Nikon, and very clear glass.

I sold piles of them in my Pro Shop, did not have one warranty claim that I know about.

Interesting. I tried a CT Hardline and was not impressed. The glass was meh... and the turrets were... ick.

If i can find a decent deal on a Pro i might have to revisit... though once you start spending that kind of $ there are probably better options.
*Edit. Bushline Pro $600+ and Hardline Pro $1000 and up. For that kind of money I can get a used Swaro.

I'd like to add that the magnification adjustment on my Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 was hard as hell to turn in minus 20 something weather. Other than that, I am satisfied with it. Maybe something brighter at right around the time it's time to call it quits would be better? That's about the only substantial improvement I would seek.
