The 1892 design is what you want for a .357 lever and the Rossi is a pretty good 1892 clone at half the price of a modern made in Japan Winchester. The thing with the Rossi's is they are like Norinco's and not without a few rough edges. Some are good out of the box and some are not. Best bought in hand with an inspection or atleast a money back inspection period if bought sight unseen. Come to think of it most guns made today should come with a money back inspection period because quality control seems to be a concept lost in the past somewhere!
A used Browning would be a good score around $500.00
If you can find a nice Marlin that's an option as well with a slightly clunkier action design.
