Cheapest AR-15 build help

I want to build my own AR-15.

I'm not going to war and don't want to pay 3000$

what would be your tips and tricks for building the cheapest serviceable AR-15 or am I better off just buying a Norinco or NEA?

Honestly I would wait and keep an eye on the new dominion arms branded AR's Canada Ammo is bringing in. These new ones are apparently US made and will still be very competitively priced. I think they're due early in the new year.
 
Nothing wrong with a Norinco or Dominion Arms for a starter to get into the AR field.
For best bang for your buck, wait for the Canada Ammo Boxing Day sale and hover over your keyboard between Dec 26 and New Years.
They usually put their DA556 rifles down from $599 to $499!
 
Building will cost you more in Canada; a lot more if you have to buy the specialized tools.

If you can scratch the $ up to buy a Colt Expanse 2000, Windham, CORE or DPMS do that.

If not, the Norc/DA are decent shooters. Only downside is they can be a pain to add bits to later.

I suggest you stay away from frankenbuilds off the EE. Too easy to have ones that don't run well and it's not worth the trouble to sort, especially if you have limited experience.
 
A lot of the people who build don't do it to save money. Many of them do it because they want their AR to have specific (usually upgraded) features. It then becomes cost effective to build it the way they want it rather than to buy one and then replace parts on it.

This pretty well describes why most people here build rifles, add on that its a lot of fun.
If you want to just get an AR for cheap just keep an eye out for Boxing Day sales or watch the EE.

Hogwash!! If you're patient you can put quality builds together for less. I bought a 14.5" BCM barrel off the EE for $200. The ad sat around forever too, it was kind of hidden by a bad description. Aero lowers and uppers are cheap and the small parts can be had cheap because someone feels a need for $300 trigger and let's the spare parts go for cheap. It's not a fast way to build though. Patience is key.
 
I bought a Ruger AR 556 for $905.00 all in about a year ago. I think the S&W M&P 15 II is about the same. Both goid entry level guns all the reviews say. i am very happy with my Ruger. No issues whatsoever.

x2. I bought decent parts `paycheck-to-paycheck` off the EE over the time span of about year or so and they are like lego to put together, I have no special tools... it shoots reliable!

most of the stuff I have ever bought off the EE has had the shipping in the price and I never paid any tax, which I like even more.
