Looking for a (cheap) left hand bolt action rifle in .223. Cheapest I've found is the Savage All American @ $779 + tx + shipping. No scope.

Are you guys aware of anything cheaper?

Thanks!

Try one of those HR handy rifles seems there under the $400 dollar range but being a lefty you will be looking a long time for a cheep bolt I bought a used sps varmit LH (just traded it) for $575 but thats a heavy rifle traded it for a custom lefty remington 700 in 223 its a keeper but not cheap ! just Keep Looking

Those Handy rifles are break action, right?

Yes. Not the ideal starting point for a target rifle, but the cheapest bolt actions aren't likely to be the most accurate target rifles either. Handi-Rifles are certainly accurate hunting guns. They come with a hammer extension that you install yourself, left or right side of the hammer, to allow mounting a scope as low as possible.

I have one in .223, the Superlight model and it certainly lives up to the name. 20" barrel, very light, very handy. As accurate as I can be.

If you are around here you are welcome to meet up and try mine to see if you'd like one. But you know your reasons and they should be good enough for you - if you want a bolt action, get a bolt action.

Hey TheTooner~would you mind posting a photo of your rifle? Also, who in Canada stocks these? I'd be interested in knowing how they group off a rest compared to something like that Weatherby. Wouldn't mind a .223 myself, but I wouldn't be shooting it enough to justify a $700 rifle.

Go to weatherby synthetic vanguard. Drop dowm menu for caliber (223). Then drop down menu for blued. Price will be $499. I e-mailed them for Left hand price about 2 weeks ago and it is the same as the rh model.

Are you sure they even make LH models? According to the Weatherby website, they don't:

From the FAQ:
Q. The Vanguard® is an economically produced alternative to the Mark V®. Why then wouldn’t Weatherby also produce a left handed Vanguard® to compliment the Mark V® left handed rifles?

A. The tooling cost for creating a left handed version of the Vanguard® is cost prohibitive.

Update: Found something better

Cabelas sells a Remington Model 700 SPS Varmint Left-Hand for $629.99
Now they have "free shipping" until december 15th but they charge a handling fee ($7.50) + oversize fee ($32). So at the end with tax and all the BS fees it's $720.

But Remington offers a mail-in rebate (I hate those) of $40.

So at the end of the day, you can get a brand new LH Rem. 700 shipped to your home for $680.

The thing that I don't like is the Varmint models are quite heavy.
