cheapest night vision that works?

I don't have any experience with night vision. What is the cheapest night vision system that mounts to a rifle and works? Magnification is optional. Preferably I would like to hear first hand experience.

D300 with a milspec Gen 2+ tube. Anything less than Gen 2 or Gen 2+ is getting abit hard to see. Do some searches theres some long posts on this.

USP who exactly did you by your D300 from? There doesn't seem to be any Canadian dealers that deal in High Quality NVD I've seen a lot of Newcon Optik stuff but have heard they are utter crap. I'm in no position financially to be purchasing such a device but several years down the road it is definitely something on my want list. Probably a PVS-14 if at all possible to obtain in Canada.

Got mine out of the US from TNVC. The D300 has a tube in it that was cleared for export to Israel in the late 1980s. This makes it tube ok to ship outside the US. Otherwise its all ITAR no go mostly.
