Cheapest non-restricted .50 Cal?

The OP's posts are just too ridiculous to be true.........

Seriously, how is it that people can use a forum like this but can't simply google simple questions?

If you only have $2000 to spend on a rifle then .50 BMG is definitely not for you, as it costs $5 per round minimum!

If you want something tactical get something in .308 winchester. A Remington SPS Tactical, or a Savage Precision Carbine are both around $700, and will do just fine on any game in NA.

Are there examples you could give me of non-restricted .50 calibres. Hopefully under $2000. Cheaper the better.
I wonder why the common bolt actions like Rem 700 don't make .50 calibre versions of their rifles.

KolKim, your way over our head asking question like that having just completed your PAL... head down to the RIM FIRE section and ask about the best non-restricted 22LR for hunting.

A 50 cal is not needed to kill deer or bears. Since you are new I suggest a lot of reading and try to get to a local range and handle as many different firearms as you can. For north american game a 3006 is hard to beat. Cheap found every where is many different action types and has the power to kill humanely. If a big bore is what you are looking for a 4570 should be a great start. Factory loads are mild but if handloaded it can be a very serious round. A hunting gun shouldn't weigh more then 8-10lbs for comfort and handling. A 6' long 35lb rifle is not what you want to haul around for hunting

I have been planning on getting the 30-06 calibre on a T3 or Savage actually.

I never said I wanted to buy one, I don't have the funds but I was just thinking if I did have 2k, is there a 50 cal that I could possibly get that's all. One day I would like to own a 50 cal, I guess you guys are right though, there would be no point in hunting with it.

about 45 minutes ago I just passed my RPAL test :) Going to mail it in tomorrow and get my first gun hopefully in January :)
Thanks for all of your 'respectful' answers.

Kolkim, if a 50 is what you want sometime in the future, save your money and keep your eyes open for that good deal.
I had a 50 for a few years and thoroughly enjoyed it.
When I owned it , I came across several really low priced used 50s, but after I sold mine and a few months later decided to look for another 50 the good deals were nowhere to be found.
Best of luck in your quest if thats what you want, as for me I'm still watching for another..... someday.

If a 50 bmg is what you want save up and buy one. I'd love to have one as well but ya I can't afford one myself

However if you want a 50cal centerfire that you can hunt with look into the H&r handi rifle in 500sw. Its a pistol round chambered in a single shot rifle. They are not expensive. However ammo is and its hard to find but at least you can shoot a .50cal.

Congrats on passing your tests. Don't mind they bull:bigHug::bigHug::bigHug::bigHug: answers and replies you get on here. You have to start somewhere and there is aalot of good info on here. Google is your buddy and has a lot of info. Hunting laws vary from province to province so when you get into hunting make sure you know the laws. And have fun. Get your buddies into guns we all need more shooters

If you are legit and you want something more "hardcore" than your avg .308/30-06 then theres a few options. 7mm rem magnum and .300 win magnum. Ammo is fairly common and they have good long range punch. But dont buy a cheap pkg deal for $500-600. Those old school magnum rds need a nice long barrel. 24 inches doesnt cut it and most Of those cheap pkg deals are a 24 inch barrel. Magnum rounds need a long 26+ barrel to get max potential. Or you could just get a .308 and call it a day. Doesnt need a long barrel and is good for most large game. Im a pistol guy so this is the common thought of my buddies who actually hunt.
