I watched an episode of Drivers Seat (Canadian version) and someone wrote in asking why there was such a difference in prices between the two countries for vehicles even when the exchange rate was favourable. The show sent this question out to several manufacturers head offices but the only one to reply was Hyundai. The response was basically that they charge "what the market will bear". Drivers Seat summed it up by basically saying that Canadians are used to these prices and will continue to pay them.
