Cheapest place to buy Winchester Model 70?

Got a .270 Winchester in the Super Grade.

I like the idea that its an old round from 1923. I wont buy any of this new short magnum or other magnum type rounds, they are not for me.

Sounds rather Fudd-like to me. There is hope afterall.

my exact sentiments i don't need a cannon to do the job a .270win will do just fine and i like the idea of the old round also, my other rifle is a 38-55 Winchester Model 1894 and i love it.

Thanks, I am looking forward to taking it out. Will have to wait awhile for the Near mount to show up and then I will have to figure out what sort of ammo to get.

I see 130s are popular for deer and 150s for bigger stuff? How are the 100 and 110s for varmint are they decent enough?

Any ammo to avoid in this type of rifle?

I had an older one in 308, and it was great. But it was also used, so may have been fired a lot.

I read the manual, adjusted the pull down a bit and am happy with mine. I don't feel the need to take it to the gunsmith as I have other rifles.

I really like the new model 70 trigger.

Trigger on my new M70 .338 Super Grade is excellent, as is others I've handled lately. I'm sure you'll be happy. I went with Leupold Dual-Dovetail rings and bases.

I'm thinking .308 to go with the shorter action or just learn to stalk closer with my 45-70.

USP, if you are from hamilton, did you check the pricing at Al simmons shop? I haven't bought a lot of new stuff there but their customer service is excellent and they don't seem too expensive on other products. I like supporting local if I can

I like Al Simmons well not Al as hes a ####, but Tim is good to deal with. However thier gun pricing is to far off to support. I buy ammo there and bits and pieces but thats about it.

Congrats on your purchase! I'm thinking of picking a super grade up in 30-06 within the next few weeks.. if I can find one here in On. They still going for $1200 or so?
