Cheapest Reloading supplies online??

Per Berry's bullet 1000 cost is $165 and $118 for 45ACP and 9mm respectively.
Per Factory AE 1000 cost is $395 and $269 for 45ACP and 9mm respectively.
That's 41.8% and 43.9% for 45ACP and 9mm respectively.

Figure ~3K and ~5k to recover cost.

Mind you reloading isn't for everyone. Actually I'd say it isn't for most people. There's no room for error. Most folks nowadays just don't have the patience to do it right. Ain't hard, just got to be dedicated cause you're playing with explosives. Darn fun when it works watching those pretty little boolits pop out.

Thats pretty much exactly what my last reloading session worked out to. I just figured it out and was shocked. I figured my stuff was costing 0.18 a round.. Nope... about 0.12 (9mm).. Damn I need to reload some more and save some money.

Im glad it's not for everyone.... I routinely pickup lots and lots of .223, 9mm, .40, 10mm, .45acp, 45LC, .243, .308, .270, 30-06, 7mm and various other cool brass with headstamps like "Norma" and "Weatherby" off the ground at my local range :D

Fun for me is sitting down at my press and watching akro bins fill up with hundreds of loaded rounds... good quality equipment just makes the job sooo much easier.

Have to agree with most that reloading doesn't save me money cause I shoot a LOT more. Use to be 150 rnds factory per week, now 300+ rnds reloads a week.

Got all my 45ACP bullet casting set up. Even at a buck a pound for lead 1000 is 230gn RN is only $33 for around 8c/rnd. Not sure though about shooting 300rnds 45ACP a session, shoulder won't like that. Too bad darn range is almost 2 hrs round trip.

9mm is easy to come by at the range along with the cheaper rifle rnds like 223, 270Win, 308, 30/06. 45ACP is hard to come by, so is 300WM. Did pick up about 80 Hornady 300WM a while ago along with empty boxes that still had the $40+ price stickers, ouch!
Watching those rnds pop outs knowing how cheap they were sure feels good. Wish my Hornady LNL was six stations instead of 5.

Thanks for all the help so far guys. I'm located in abby for the one who was asking.
It's nice to get a variety of opionions about this because I really would enjoy this hobby, but just like any kind of work, it hopefully should pay for itself at least in a small way...

Which USPS method, First Class International which is several bucks for items under a pound or Priority with minimum $21.25 for a pound.

No diff for big orders over 4# but for smaller items like a Lee Hardness tester FCI is great.
they just shipped me a box by USPS.

Yay.. This thread convinced me to buy some new reloading gear.. So far all my reloading has been done on a Lee 50th Anniversary kit. Since I've now paid it off 7 times over, it was time for some new gear.

Just reloaded my first 100 on a new Pro 1000.. Ahh so much faster..

I really have to say.. Reloading is just another hobby.. It saves money, but you have to enjoy it to make it worth while. Some Do, Some Don't..

If you are the type that is calculating how many hours it will take to make enough loads for the year, then reloading is probably not for you... or it might be for you if you buy good equipment (Dillon Super 1050) and shoot calibers that pay back fairly quickly (.45acp, 38 Super, 308 norma mag). You still have to pay attention though. Reloading can be dangerous.

Based on my previous calculations.. You can pay off a Dillon Super 1050 with 400 308 Norma Magnum rounds. Not a ton of rounds for distance shooters. I hear they can shoot anywhere from 1500 to 5000 a year.

Reloading is def. a fun hobby for those that like to tinker. Still like the line in one of the book that states reloading is not for drunks, clumsy and careless folks. Great when it works. Scary when things that goes booms goes KABOOM. The slide on the semi comes straight back at you face on every shoot, so easy to double load, kinda scary thought.

After needing several thousand rnds to get my favorite load you want me to start again with fluffy stuff :nest:

The RCBS die cop is great, too bad it's expensive so only have one, have to reset for each caliber.
so very very easy not to as well...

stop being so cheap and buy a bulkier powder :D

I'm not scared of the double loads.. I'm scared of the squibs..

I did one of those about a year ago when I was hung over (Ya I know).. Missed the powder in a load.. Pushed the bullet far enough up the barrel for the next round to chamber. I got suspicious when I had to rack the slide and a blackened case came out. I shudder to think what would have happened to that Norinco if I had pulled the trigger..

PAY ATTENTION..

uggg i know, been looking at getting the dillon because you can just order spare rods and trim as needed but the low primer buzzer is annoying enough!

not too scared of pistol cases but .223 and .308 with quick powders get my neck hair standing up.

At 22c a round for 7.62x39 Norinco non corrosive what's the point of reloading for semis. I don't bother shooting my 223 XCR barrel with 7.62 being so cheap.

For 308/30-06 I reload slowly. How many rnds can one use in a bolt action. Maybe when I get a RFB.

Progressive press is for 45ACP.

One comment, you need a RCBS Lock-Out Die, no squib, no double.

For reloading supplies in the Vancouver area, you should try D.J.Friesen out of Chilliwack. Great supply, even for older caliber.
