Cheapest sabot slugs?

Ammunition is probably the "cheapest" part of the hunting equation.

Most will likely spend far more on beer/booze or gas to get there without
even a second thought.

I think I'd rather have the most effective and accurate sabot I could send
down the tube... and 5 or 10 bucks (or more) per box really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

With a once-a-year experiance you wait so long to participate in between seasons, .... ammunition isn't the place to cheap-out.

The cheapest sabot slugs are a foster-like 1 oz slug in a sabot. Or if you handload, the Lyman slug is good.

As far as it goes, the cheapest sabot round (federal) is a big hunk of lead, no jacket, nothing fancy.
The cheap end rifle ammo is jacketed soft point.
On deer, well, we'll see this fall.

Would also recomend the bore sighter.Mine cost me $115 and it paid for it's self 5 time's over.My 870 like's remington copper solids. $19.99 a box here. I've tried the cheap load sighting.it's going to cost you to sight in a slug gun no mater how you do it.you have to pay to play.this suck's of course!I'm tinkering with the lee drive key 7/8 once slug. It's a ongoing development.though it will never out perform the sabot mentioned above! it will be a good medium range slug for coyote or brush hunting deer. The cheapest sabot's i've seen is fedral cast sabots. you see them at walmart and ctc there between $7-9 a box of 5.Cheers!

You could always get the Lyman mold and reload your own...

Where in Ontario would I be able to buy one of these?? (in both 12 and 20 gauge)

I ordered direct from Lyman over the internet. Just visit their website and follow the links to moulds. They make both 12 and 20. They are really good to deal with, very straightforward. They were back ordered recently though. At least they (Lyman), unlike Lee Factory Sales only charge you when they actually ship.

Lee was also back ordered on their slug moulds, and they were more than happy to charge me before they even had the mould machined, and after the 5 weeks of waiting for it, I emailed them and they told me the news (on back order).

They cut and sent me a cheque ( snail mail), which in Canadian banks, at least mine, had a 30 day hold put on it. So I paid the original $80 for the bits, pieces and mould plus ate the 18% for around 2 1/2 -3 months before the refund came through. Very unsatisfying to say the least. A tip on dealing with them- send an email to Lee Factory Sales and enquire as to whether they actually have in stock what they are selling- save yourself some frustration. Their prices are good, however.
