Cheapest SKS

What kind of SKS is WSS selling and for how much? A couple friends bailed out and I'm now looking to selling a couple and am trying to price them accordingly.

They are selling them for $159 each with very reasonable shipping charges. As per post above apparently some are laminate and some are not.

It's ridiculous what people attempt to sell them on the EE for. Even with taxes this is cheaper than most used ones (on CGN at least)!

Yep. Mine came to $170ish and change with taxes, and this is for an unfired new gun with all accessories. There's something to be said for having the ability to pick a nice one out in person, but still, after this I don't think I could in good conscience buy a used SKS for any more than $150, or a new one for more than $175. Even if WSS is sold out it's worthwhile waiting for the next batch at that price.

Last time I was at WSS they told me a box of .38 S&W LRN was "restricted ammunition".

I wouldn't hold most of what they tell you in high regard.

just talked to someone at WSS the price is going back up to $230 when the next batch comes in. I put two of mine up for sale at 200 each

I put in an order online a few days ago. I heard from them yesterday telling me that they are likely sold out at all locations but that they will honour the price for the next batch and keep all names/orders "active." So if someone orders one now, even if they don't get it immediately they will have the low price for the next shipment. As for the increased price they didn't mention that to me.

Is a laminate stock better? How can you tell the difference?

Laminated wood products tend to hold shape better than a solid one piece of wood stock. think of it like a piece of plywood, or a skateboard deck, or a laminated beam the layers laminated together are stronger than one piece. and not as affected by humidity as a one piece stock would be. also can be a very nice look.:)

to tell look at the bottom or top edge of the rifle stock if it looks like 1/8 to 1/4 inch layers sandwiched together its a laminate.

This is mine before cosmo removal. Hard wood doesnt have such a nice grain imho

It's worth mentioning that a laminated stock is noticably heavier. I haven't weighed my Tula versus my Norinco but the Tula is definitely the more weighty of the two. It also looks nicer though.
