I anticipate my being raked over the coals for this question (I used the "search" feature but it revealed little), but I’ve just got to ask:

Has anyone had success with the “cheapo” M14 mount from Marstar?

I’m on a budget and can’t afford the more expensive mounts. If it’s hit and miss; some people have had success with them, I think I’ll try it.

If nobody has been able to make it work I’ll toss the whole idea.

Thank you,

Arms mounts are available in Canada through a number of dealers. They work just fine. Some complain that they are too low and restrict ejection....I have never had a problem....your mileage may vary....

Cheers

Dont do it. I just got a M14 and have the el cheapo martstar mount (89.99) used for 60 bux. Waste of 60 bux. The allen screws in the front of the mount need to be torqued up so its stable but in doing so make the rifle shoot like 4 feet lows and 4 feet right. I was fully out of adjustment on my scope and had also made some shims, but it was no use. I would give it a miss.

I've made my mind up.

I'm not going to do it untill I can afford a better mount or the milarm "SAGE" like stock.

The amegaranges dot com scout mount is available for a lot of mil types. I think rooster on CGN has one too.

I like the idea of getting away from 4 screws, 3 pieces and an-out-of-spec reciever when working on my rifle. My John Masen M1A mount is on an older Norinco, has 2 screws and is never in the same place twice. If mounting the scope on the barrel avoids these problems, it will be progress for me.

(Don't one of either, so I'm just talking ...)

Everyone, just save your money. Skullboy and I get all kinds of queries regarding work-able mounts. If we had a dime for every question, we could put ourselves through Law School.

Read this sticky FIRST: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=121659

There is a wealth of knowledge & experience on THIS forum.

Save your money for quality hardware: Smith, ARMS # 18, Springfield Armory 3rd Gen. , etc.

Your mileage may vary, but with these quality mounts, you won't be wasting time sending bullets 10 feet over to the right or left at 100 yards. We get these questions all the time. Been there, done that... sold the M14 Clinic Videos...
