Hey black rifle fans, check out my "New" 13.5" LMT .308 barrel! This is what it looked like out of the box! Actually, that last part isn't accurate - this is what it looked like after an hour+ of cleaning the various rust, grease, dirt and grime off it with G96, q-tips and micro fibre cloths! And that doesn't even include the 3-4 scratches and gouges in the chrome lining...

In hindsight I wish I'd taken some 'before' pictures, but I didn't realize at the time just what I'd embarked on... At one point I honestly thought I was cleaning mould off the feed ramps (this is apparently what colour factory packing grease turns when undoubtably left exposed to the elements for probably the better part of a year). The 'red circle of death'/rust (for you Xbox fans) around the gas block took 20-minutes with a nylon brush to remove the worst...

And the best part is this is apparently a "warranty" issue (!) with my "new" barrel, and now I get to wait 4-12+ weeks for a replacement from LMT (no refund for me, even though I politely asked...). Lesson learned! Why pay less on the EE for mint/LNIB when you can pay retail from a CGN sponsor for used/'slightly handled'!!

Not a good sign, but its a tool. If it works who cares, scratches and surface rust should be standard on guns that get run hard.

...they have such nice stuff

If by "nice", do you mean "new"? ;)

It's not so much the exterior, but the 3-4 gouges in the chrome lining on the inside of the barrel. How it arrived in the box should've been foreshadowing...

That looks like my 1930 cooey barrel... only more rust :D

kinda looks like that barrel was installed on a gun...

The stuff i've gotten from them has been nice / new

That's really unfortunate... it should never have been sold as new if at all

That hurts resale value, it is not a New barrel, they sent it too you with rust and a defect in the barrel grooves.

Total BS. If Questar doesn't chime in and make good, they won't get any more money from me. If I bought that off you used, I'd be pissed if you didn't describe it like that, why should you that be acceptable as a "new" product.

I bought a SIG from them that looked worse than this ... I won't buy anything else from them

It's not a warranty issue if they sold you something that arrived in a state it shouldn't have. If you bought a new barrel it should arrive in "new" condition. They are obligated under Ontario's consumer protection act to refund your money if I'm not mistaken. I'd remind them that they sold it to you, you have a right to receive it in "new" condition, and they have an obligation to refund your money if you choose to return the item as it arrived in a state other then what it should have been. If they continue to tell you it's a warranty issue tell them your going to file a complaint.

dude that sucks i hade ordered something from them it took over 4 months to ship they told me they hadnt heard back from the cfo i called the cfc and my cfo the transfer was approved 2 weeks after the transfer was initiated
