The drum was not an infantry accessory. I seem to think it was a Navy item .... Nowadays, it is just another 5 shot magazine.

I seem to recall that there is a specific exemption for this mag, and the snail mag that the Luger can use.
Anyone want to confirm or deny this for me?

Also, I thought it was for Anti Aircraft use, not a navy item?

Former Cartridge Magazine Control Regulations

3. (1) Any cartridge magazine
(a) that is capable of containing more than five cartridges of the type for which the magazine was originally designed and that is designed or manufactured for use in
(2) Paragraph (1)(a) does not include any cartridge magazine that
...
(c) is of the “drum” type, is not a reproduction and was originally designed or manufactured for use in a firearm commonly known as

(i) the .303 in. Lewis Mark 1 machine-gun, or any variant or modified version of it, including the Lewis Mark 1*, Mark 2, Mark 2*, Mark 3, Mark 4, Lewis SS and .30 in. Savage-Lewis,

(ii) the .303 in. Vickers Mark 1 machine-gun, or any variant or modified version of it, including the Mark 1*, Mark 2, Mark 2*, Mark 3, Mark 4, Mark 4B, Mark 5, Mark 6, Mark 6* and Mark 7, or

(iii) the Bren Light machine-gun, or any variant or modified version of it, including the Mark 1, Mark 2, Mark 2/1, Mark 3 and Mark 4;

they were for AA use mostly with the AA tripod ..quite neat and yes you can still use all 100rds IF we were still allowed to take our CAor FA's to the range

I have an issue box sitting in my basement for a 100 round Bren mag. It belongs to a friend who was using it to store some gun related items.
It's marked CHEST EQUIPMENT
BREN 100 RD MAGAZINE MK I

yep it held 4 mags and the tools to load them IMA used to sell the whole kit for $2000.00USD.
I have bought tons of stuff from them they have some really interesting items

Here's the normal Inglis MkII with regular mag. Quite a few of these around. Very accurate and a pleasure to shoot.

And here's the 100rd AA drum and brass bag, mounted and ready in case my refrigerator attacks.

Yup, it's OK for me to possess the 100 round .303 Brit drum, but all hell would break loose and crimes committed if one of the welds broke on a 9mm Sten mag and allowed that 6th round.:bangHead:

That would be absolutely awesome - I guess I'm lucky I don't have access to anything like that, I'd be poor (happy but poor).

The magazines that hold a maximum of 30 rounds total have to be blocked to 5 rds.

the law only allows for the 100 round drum mags to not be pinned...damn misread that part :bangHead:

My point still stands, would be fun to shoot 5/30 round magazines out of a Bren,

Yes. But its more fun to run unaltered mags through a Bren. Particularly an unaltered Bren.

An outfit in the US has started making a machined from solid semi auto only receiver, set up to use an already ATF approved operating system. No rewelded bits. Might be a remote chance for a rather expensive semi auto Bren in this country. Probably of more interest than in a semi 1919 or 34.
