Why are there live rounds on the ground next to him?

Also, hard to tell the era, given mud, that's is B&W, mud, and more mud ;)

But that aluminium canteen.. soo 1960/70's. My dad had the same when he was in the boy scouts, gave it to me, then we collectively figured out that aluminium gave cancer (correction: alzeimer/dementia), got rid of it.

Uh... I don't think aluminum canteens give cancer. Most people are ditching their BPA plastic bottles and going back to aluminum, for that matter.

I didn't say "i" concluded Al = (correction: alhzeimer/dementia).. but these were replaced in the CF with plastic ones, the reason given "Al = cancer (correction: alhzeimer/dementia)".

Like the old melmac plates and cups... we can't now since cancer, or some other health concerns.

In 20 years, plastics will be better, metal = bad,... full circle (again).

Safest to me is glass, but, yeah, it's glass. Next to that, silver.

But back to the photo, it just doesn't feel like it's WW2 era, even not considering the rifle.

Bare aluminum in cooking pots has been linked to Alzheimer's and dementia, saw one article on a link to breast cancer, the first 2 have merit though - multiple sources. Give it some though it you are cooking in heavy bare aluminum pots.

could be fired blanks. He might have taken the BFA off for photo op. Then again the picture could be just a larper

Indeed. I've seen many "hero shots" nowadays where people either have the BFA on and/or no mag... lol

If they wont allow you tu put a mag on, just put your hand in front of the magwell.

Edit: was trying to find a hero shot of what I meant, but found this instead:

wow

In my opinion, drinking water from aluminum is not a cancer risk, or an alzheimers risk either. There is some literature to show aluminum-based deodorants give a light alzheimer's risk increase, but not elemental aluminum.

Think of all the soda cans, beer cans, aluminum fitness bottles, etc.

As for the military, I firmly believe they went to plastic for practical reasons:

-cost
-reduced noise if banged on something
-resilience - they pop back into shape if dented
-weight - they are lighter.
