Try calling the Fish & Wildlife office in Medicine Hat, see if there is some public land/ lease land there. It should be real good hunitng down there. I have heard alot of the farmers will let you on their property (walking only) since the grass is a precious comodity in those areas.

How long did it take you to get drawn down there?

Noel

Been drawn every year for Early moose, and same again this year. Most of the guys in our camp get drawn every year. We all put in individually. To wait 16 years like Noel makes no sense to me, just like another fellow took 11 years on another forum site. Maybe we are just a lucky group then. Any how good luck Noel, Dont release the area of your 'honeyhole'...lol.

This is the first year I was not drawn for Antlered Mulie-been drawn every year before that since it went to draw (i think it was 4yrs in a row until now) Oh well, I guess more people coming north where the draw system for mulie has increased the size of the bucks tremendously. But there is still the landowner's permit to apply for since not drawn.

Didn't get my cow elk, but thats ok. I went "999" on the code, b/c my wife will be drawn and so will my hunting buddy. Someone has to get the BULL !

Trophy Full Curl Sheep a no go also (999 code again). Just trying to get my priority higher (Priority 7 now 8 for next year), and then plan on the year when I will have more time.

Good luck everyone this season!

Myself, Girl Friend, and Cousin all got mulie does, when I put in for the draw it stated numerous tags will be given out... I guess that means for each person drawn.. that person will get at least 2 tags.. is this right???

If so i guess I'll have to buy another freezer:) ..........

I 999'd everything else...

It didn't take that long to get drawn there, We were only priority two, and you can get drawn there priority one. ;) I just meant that I had never had the opportunity to go hunting way out in the boonies for Moose with a buddy so it wasn't really feasible. It was also a little daunting to apply for an area I've never been to before and then drag out a 50+ inch rack and a whole lot of meat with it.:D
When I was 13 and got invited to go hunting the next fall, I thought man it would be cool to get me a big honkin moose! Maybe now I can.:)

Cheers and good luck filling your tags Guys and Gals!

Took me two years to get drawn, thanks for the tip on calling F&W--will do!

Main thing is, antelope is a great reason to get another rifle, maybe a .257 Weatherby...

Bishops,
I didnt think the draw results for Antlope were available yet....everyone I talk to has said they're results just say 'Initial' on them still and are waiting until August....thats wild if yours is drawn already.
As for the antelope, I live in Medicine Hat and can hook you up pretty easy on getting into some good country and killing a good buck.....send me a PM if you plan on doing any scouting or if I can provide you with any tips....

Boy Trev, there may be a couple more guy's getting ahold of you for next year! Nugget should get drawn and we aren't to sure where to put him in for yet. My wife and I got drawn for 138/142/144 two falls ago but it was real hard to find even a 10" buck!

Bishopus, make sure to budget for burning some serious gas. I guess it depends on the vehicle you drive, but we were covering 400km+ a day and $90 worth of gas. Yikes!
FWIW, if you are close to Suffield, get your gas at the base's convienience store, we saved close to .10/litre filling up there.
Have fun!
Noel

I was drawn for Coe Elk in 359, now I can hunt almost to Christmas:D
told the wife that last night and she didn't think it was so funny:confused: :)

Nugget will kill me if I release the WMU we got drawn for, it is suppossed to be quite a honey hole and we are hoping (if it is good) to make it a family affair and go every other year if it's as good as our sources tell us. Sorry Gregg:redface:
Let's just say it's around Grand Cache and leave it at that.;)
Noel

If it's North of GC I can give you some pointers, if it's not I know a couple guys in Cache that might be able to help.

Once again TMac pulls through, thanks man!
There was a couple of guy's that did some Outfitting in this WMU and since they bought a hunting area in B.C. they spilled the beans to Dan. It didn't take much arm twisting to get me to go in a group application with him. He's a natural at hunting moose in the rut so we are sure to have a good time. Not to mention all the other species we can go for on general tags.
Mix this with 12 days to hunt should add up to a big adventure and lots of tales to tell my friends at CGN!

A buddy here at work got his bull tag for 314, can you get a partner licence with the bull tag?

So I walk away from the computer feeling sorry for myself, the door bell rings and my new Burris spotter is sitting out side the door. I threw it up on a tri-pod and spent 10 minutes on the back deck trying to pick out Noel slaving away at the shop. Alas the rock pile ruined my veiw.

LOL! Too funny man! Look in the dark little cave on the west side of the shop, I am installing the lathe back there to get it out of the dust and welding sparks finally.

There was one for sure up at Mom and Dad's, nice 38incher.:)
Cody has a friend up at Water Valley where "They always get their Moose".:D

Don't worry Jarrod, maybe you'll get to drag your kids out for that goat you've been hoping for.;)

Let me know when you are ready to load up that 6.5, looks like it will have to be a weeknight, if it works for you.

M*****F*****!

See, now I'm totally jinxed...

I hope the kids like eating whitetail and coyote this year ;-)

If you mean about finding a decent buck I wouldn't worry at all, you should be in primo country. I would like to go where you got drawn but a hunting buddy was familiar with the zone we went to......
The Fish & Wildlife office should be able to give you a rough idea of the poulations too. If it only took you tow years to get drawn my guess is they are over run with the critters. It will all be good.:)

Plenty of good bucks around Medicine Hat Bishops....no worries about finding something worth killin and picking a good trophy.....sned me a PM and I'll point you in the right direction no prob....
