Checkering lines per inch?

What should lpi be like on wood grips? Some say 20, others want 40... As for me, I like 16, but it seems I'm the only one like this.
 
40 lpi ? it would have to be cut into metal for them to last,I have seen 32 on high end shotguns and quite frankly they cease being functional and become only artsy.high teens low 20's seem to be the best of both worlds .
 
20 lpi is nice.

I personally prefer a higher LPI. Anything over 20 on wood and you are wasting your time, but 25 and up on metal for me.

30LPI (So soft and fluffy I would use it as a pillow)
