Checkering on a 1911

Really good checkering is rare in North America, even more so in Canada. It costs a lot (I charge $200 for a front strap), and the waiting list can be long. I am booked into 2008 for checkering, but maybe Joe Dlask can help. His checkering is very good as well :)

I can't in good faith recommend anyone else (I am a bit of a perfectionist :), although I recently saw some good work that had been done in Ontario (Maybe Rodger at Dark??) My advice is to ask to see samples/references...

I have hanguns with checkering done by Armco and Dlask. They charge the same but the quality of work is different. I think Gunner at Armco is better and would have him do the work no matter how long it took. When he undercuts the area below the trigger guard it makes the checkering stand out. Also it helps with the hold.

I had my checkering done by Roger Kotanko, Dark International, in Ontario. I am very pleased. I will try to post a pic in a day or 2.
