Hi guys I'm thinking of having my beloved 308 Norma checkered
who in Canada does good work?

I found a guy in the states that does nice work but pricey

Nice work is always pricey;)
BTW, that is why I stopped doing it,
everyone thinks it costs to much and
my eyes can't take it anymore

Years ago I met a German craftsman who restored furniture for a living. He took on a checkering job as a favour for another friend. His work was flawless (to my eyes) but he said that he thought it would be much easier and swore that he would never take on another job again.

FYI: Steve Milton of Precision Arms and Gunsmithing here in Ontario does good work. Don't know about cost.

chekering

Frank Ryan in fonthill ontario is probably one of the best craftsman with gunstocks in the country. His chekering is the best that I've seen and I have looked at many. He took the time to teach me how to do it. If you look at my post for my rem. rolling block on hunting rifle exchange and take a look at my work you can come to your own conclusion. Frank has a gun shop in fonthill called frontier gun.

Its not the price of doing it I have no problem with that at all

Its the shipping and exchange i fear:p

He quoted me $250.00 for wrap around 24 line checkering

Quite reasonable if I lived in Prescott;)

I'll check out the guys on my side of the boarder before I do anything drastic
