Checking interest on an AR mag adapter for the SKS

I'm not sure what's worse. The fact that we have 5 round limits to begin with, or the fact that people are willing to spend more than the cost of the rifle to get around them. That said I can totally see you guys selling many if these lol.

Wow, can't believe how many are interested in spending more than the price of the gun to fire possibly 5 extra shots from
a gun, especially having to remove otherwise good metal from the gun.

Not just the 5 extra rounds, but detachable mags. This will allow for an inexpensive entry to 3 gun or Tactical Rifle matches.

I'm with you, especially with the removing of metal, I'll leave my sks stock. However I'm still sure these will sell like hotcakes.

Bet the sales wouldnt be worth a battle in the courts. Are you making enough from these to launch a law suit? I'm sure not many will be spending more than what it costs to buy an sks. If I had an SKS and wanted an adapter I'd buy Canadian.

Hi guys. Hate to rain on your parade here. But, we hold the patent rights (which includes International manufacturing protection rights) to that adapter.

Marcus

Can you show us proof of your patent which includes International manufacturing protection rights?

You cannot link a non supporting dealer on this forum, it is against the rules.....

Contact us if you want to sort this out, not in a public forum, hical@shaw.ca Thanks, Dave.

moreover, if you are using a wartak / magwedge rail for your optics you know that it prevents using the clips. With detachable 10 rounders this no longer an issue and a package like this can move a good old SKS into different category entirely.

I've already spent way more than my SKS' value just by simply putting a BC tactical rear site rail mount and a tapco stock on. I'd be interested in this as well. It's not about the cost vs the value of the gun but rather the cost vs the fun to play with it. As in any hobby, it costs money to enjoy. You can't take it to the grave with you.

Actually, I don't have room in my safe for more rifles anyway, what would I use $300 to buy next? Another SKS and a bigger safe? Naa.

I'll be emailing HiCal with my name for when these come out.

Hi guys. Hate to rain on your parade here. But, we hold the patent rights (which includes International manufacturing protection rights) to that adapter. It's called the G9/A. The "A" stands for AR-style. The adapter pictured above is an exact knockoff of our adapter with a different button. And yes, we sell to Canada.

Visit our site and see for yourself.

I've played in this world , for a long time, yes you can hold a patent, or design right for your produce,.....as everybody know... just change "one " little thing and its a new produce. It Happens EVERY DAY.
Welcome to the USA, as those in the USA would say.
Cheers

Wow, enough rumors & speculations. We did not want to get into arguments on a public forum, but we want to explain the difference between our product & the USA one.
There has to be some similarities to make them work in an SKS rifle, but this is what we found by comparing the different units when we did a side by side comparison between our mag adapter and the one from the states over the weekend.

Here is a list of the main differences:

ours is longer to provide better magazine support
ours has a mag well flare for faster mag changes
ours has a larger mag release button for easier mag changes
ours has a slightly lower location for the mag release button
ours has a different mag catch arm with different geometry so it can't bind, this is a problem with the USA design
if the magazine does get stuck, our design facilitates reaching inside to manually depress the mag catch

you cannot push the mag release button too far allowing the mag catch to fall out of position, this is a problem with the USA design
Less modification required to the sks stock is required as ours is thinner profile.

the USA designs website clearly states "It is designed to use only ASC, 5, 10, 20 or 30 round, modified 7.62x39 AR 15 style magazines"
Our design was designed to work with any ar 15 style magazine from any manufacturer, no modification are required. Our system will work with any standard unmodified magazine designed for that specific caliber, including 10 round pistol mags, with NO modification!

the USA design does not need a modification to the sks rifle, ours does require some material to be removed from the lower receiver

We understand that our design looks similar to the USA design, but this is just a prototype as explained in the original post. There are several areas that interface with the rifle and magazine thus the dimensions are restricted. We will still make changes to further enhance, improve and set our design apart from the USA design.

Ours says "made in Canada" not "made in Texas"....

Thank you for the positive response to our design that is 100% made, manufactured and distributed in Canada. 100% of the money goes to Canadians!

Thank you for your support! Dave.

Dave,

We have called HiCal and requested a return call several times. No response from HiCal yet.

Dave, I wish your list of differences included the following line:
"ours makes the bolt to stay open after firing the last round, the US one does not"
I know this is possible because some people on this forum have already done this. Have you tested this feature on yours?

Agreed! if it had a last round BHO ,I'd be all over this.

We just wanted to post that we had a phone conversation with Marcus, from the US SKS mag adapter & resolved any issues that have been ongoing here on the forums. He is a very reasonable fellow to talk with. We have agreed to alter the final version so it does not resemble his version as much. We will alter our prototype & start production. Thanks for everyones support & understanding, especially Marcus! Dave.

Refreshing to hear some can still settle matters like gentlemen.

....and I agree, 'last round bolt hold open' would be very desirable.

Awsome news :)
It will be easy to do , wink wink
