Cheekpads?

Perhaps a strap-on would suit your needs and budget? These are well made and are available in left- and right-handed models.

They aren't as tall or adjustable as the R33 style but don't require modifications to the rifle stock, and can be used on more than one rifle. If you need more height you could probably tape or glue some dense foam in or under the pad.

That's the kind of thing I was looking for, though I was told the Blackhawk adjustable pad was quite a bit better. Any comments on the Blackhawk adjustable?

I bought one of these to raise the comb on my 870 to suit a cantilever slug bbl with a scope. They are well made and worth the coin.

Blackhawk shyte is not even close to being on the same playing field as Eagle industries. Order an Eagle from Darren at OneShot, if you need it higher you can add a piece of neoprene underneath it.

what he said ONE SHOT TACTICAL

Oh ok, thanks! One question (may be a stupid one...) though, where do you get neoprene?
Also, they have them in black, right? Because the green one is pretty friggen ugly.

you can use leather too to go under it or use a surplus store bed pad

$7 elastic buttstock shotgun shell carrier, and an old sock. :) Works like a charm.

I use cut up pieces of old mouse pads underneath the shell carriers.

Eagle + Green = GTG

No experience with the Blackhawk, Eagle is good to go.

For the LCF-needy :D the green may be ugly on a black stock but I think it is better than black on a wooden stock.

Well my 50mm scope is mounted a bit too high for me to be able to comfortably rest my cheek on the butt of my 700, so I'm looking into getting an adjustable cheekpad. Which would you recommend? It would be nice if it doubled as a cartridge holder.

This may be a personal opinion, but I realy think Cheek pads suck. They move, they are the pits for consistant cheek weld, Fugly.....I just hate them. I would recomend using rings that alow you to anchor to your stock. If that is not posible use a solid adjustable cheek piece such as those from Rooster 33 or the Mcmillans from HWSNBN that will fit the stocks of the 700. Stay away from those foam padded fugly bags.

Just an opinion, even though its negative.

god I hate those things!!!:runaway:

Haha ok thanks. I'm thinking I might just go with a cheapo thing until I get enough money for HWSNBN to install a McM cheekpad.

Rohann, ya gotta go with what works and feels good to you, my opinion is just that a personal opinion, I detest those fugly attach a pillow pads, and will make fun of you if I ever meet and see you with one:p , but thats just the way I am. If it works for you by all means use it and enjoy it.

Haha I understand, but I can't see a cheekpad being nearly as sturdy as an actual stock, and would prefer a built-in adjustable myself, if possible. I may get a temporary one for the time being, but in the end I'd like an adjustable built in.

Has anyone ever had one of these done? How do they look/function?

Do what I did for a while, get an old field dressing sling packaet, and guntape the hell out of it onto the stock.that should be high enough.
