I can't believe there's little bits of snow in vancouver right now!

So what's the deal on the riser? Did you make it or buy it? Details please.

Maybe it's a DIY style cheek riser?

Most of hte ones I have seen use two bolts to steady it with, not just one.

It's purdy either way :)

Thanks I just got back from the range and I have to say the riser is great. It's set up with the basset mount and is 1.5" higher than the stock and is just about right for a cheek weld. It's made out of a 7.62X39 galvanized crate lid formed around the stock and used as a mould with 10 layers of glass. Just remember in the words of Bob Ross" there is never any mistakes". We're just starting to see the grass again out here, which is strange for this time of year.

looks great, but I have a question on your scope mount if I may,When you bolted it on and installed your scope, how was the line up of the crosshairs?I have 2 bassets and a arms.and all three are way of to the left when using a bushnell bore sighter,In the case of one scope not enough adjustment to get close with the crosshairs.it also shoots 4 inchs to left with adjustment all the way,This is on 2 m14s,and one M1A.so is it me or the 3 rifles.never had this problem before with any bolt guns, and followed same steps.
Can I have 3 out of spec revievers, this has me stumbed

Hmm... that's strange. Ive two 305s and I change the mount back and forth with only minor adjustment. I just make sure the horizontal bar on the mount fits in the groove in the receiver and that's it. I don't know how much more adjustment is left in the scope now that it's on target because I haven't run out. The axis of the scope is different than the bore. I could see that a bore sight might be too short but you should still have room for adjustment plus you have had it at the range. Call back down to Basset and see what they say.The mount works for me but the eye relief is short due the set up. The basset held zero all day long and was able to ring the two hundred yard gong with impunity(5 in a row, fast!) Cheers

when using a bushnell bore sighter

Have you proven the bore sighter is correct by firing the rifle? My bushnell bore sighter proved to be unreliable when used with the flash hider installed. I have since switched to a chamber style bore sighter.

I had all sorts of adjustment issues (requiring major scope shimming) until I switched to the Bassit. Windage adjustible rings may help in your case. The M14 scope mounting arrangment is a poor design.
