So we have norinco for cheep semi auto hand guns and such but so far have not seen a revolver equivalent. Looking for a basic revolver 22lr would be nice but i can deal with other calibers. Idea is a first revolver to just play with as well as one i can use to hand newbies I bring to the range. last thing I want to do is hand over the nice shiny and owned by the wife, PPQ to get drooped after first shot because of being spooked. Seen it happen. I also plan on helping at the range next season for handgun night where all members who want to get ATT need to do 4 shoots using other members hand guns.

so ya any ideas or links to cheep yet decent revolvers ???

I'm too much of a revolver fan to buy a cheap one. And if you were to find one and shoot it you might become one as well. But I fully realize that a S&W or Ruger are a lot of money to lay out.

The middle price guns are Taurus, Alfa and these days for Canada Charter Arms. Rossi shows up as used but not that often. Of the three that are available new Alfa seems to be the nicest and CONSISTENTLY nicest option. Taurus is a great option if the one you get arrives without any issues. But the quality control on them is a problem. However with Freedom Ventures being the importer/distributor these days getting warranty on them is MUCH better than the stories I've read that date back to the 90's and earlier when another outfit did this work. So a Taurus might be worth considering.

Charter is a gun which is commonly seen described as "carry a lot, shoot occasionally". I'm not sure I like that idea. Supposedly the quality has risen since the original owners bought the company back a few years ago. But I don't see a lot of glowing reviews on the new product. But to be fair I haven't really looked around that much for reviews on the more recent Charter Arms products.

Basically at this point in time I'd suggest that the best option for a moderate price revolver is Alfa Project. And then install a Rusty Wood mainspring kit to make the trigger feel more like a S&W.

Alfa Project
Taurus
Canada Charter

So reviews of newer products is reasonable and you can get in the game for 400$ range and even less second hand. New to me works for me for a beater pistol to learn revolvers on.

My advise : buy a used Ruger (for the same price than a "new cheap" one) and envoy it for your lifetime...

After a lifetime of shooting I agree with the last few people ,,,,,,,,,,,
A USED good gun is still a GOOD gun . A CHEAP new gun is always a cheap gun.

Buy a good gun for life ,,,,,, new or used. ,,,,,,,,,,, Frank

I would suggest that you go and handle a few of the Alfas first. I was recently looking for a .22LR revolver as well, thought a 'cheapie' might be okay - but the Alfas really felt small in my hands and overall looked cheap. I asked about grip options and was told there was very little available. So, after looking over reviews and holding a few other revolvers, I ended up spending a few more bucks and getting a barely used Ruger SP101.
