Cheers.

What do you want to do with the rifle? How far do you plan to shoot? How accurate does it need to be? Scope? Iron sights? Off hand shooting? Competition? How heavy can it be?

I see two extremes. Short barrelled carbines and long heavy barrlled precision rifles.

I like the accuracy on my 20" barrel HBAR, and I like the look on my 14.5" barrel carbine. Unless you are planning to shoot thousands of rounds through the barrel, there is no need to get the hevay barrel.

Depends on the type of shooting, if you will do alot of prone or bench rest a heavy barrel would be better. If you do more standing and shooting from kneeling or modified positions a gov or lightweight barrel would be better.

your not carrying the gun on long partols, so who cares about how heavy it is lol.
HB is more accurate due to less barrel whip, so I would go that route ;)

If I were to buy one again I would go without a heavy barrel. It makes the guns balance feel less than ideal. But I shot a match this summer from prone where I went through 80 rounds in 7 minutes. there the heavy barrel really shined.
As has been said...really depends what you want to do with it.
