I had something similar happen with my S&W 1006. Thought my firing pin had chipped off or something until I realized it was just a piece of shrapnel caught in the firing pin channel, just behind the breech face.

First thing I'd do if I were you is take the thing apart, clean out the firing pin channel and inspect the firing pin.

PS I keep getting our avatars confused when I quickly scan through forum pages...
