cheers

If I want that I know where to go. LOL.

The site where employees of sponsoring manufacturers are Moderators with over 12000 posts, (and actually go as far as close threads that don't attempt to bury Stag Arms). The best is watching the the BC? Employee/Mod having to talk himself out of previous bizarre CMT claims, and come up with a story how their CMT parts are better than Stag Arms (CMTs own) parts, due to 'testing'. LOL. I think Continental engraving CM on their bolts out of the blue (and more) really put some noses out of joint. How are you a manufacturer if you assemble parts?

A marketing tool for the owners gunstore, and paying sponsors, nothing more. Not a source of non-sponsored information. Say what you may about CGN, but at least Greentips isn't here to plug his gunshop 19000 times, and where I'm not a Moderator, working for a brand GT sells, allowing me to trash and lie about any brand I don't sell, promote my own, and closes any threads that turn against the script. All the while claiming people should listen to my trusted 'opinion' and not trust what they themselves know.:rolleyes::rolleyes: The credibility (and techniques) of scientologists. :slap:

The site where a gun from a brand created last month (and new sponsor) can be the 'new Tier 1!'. Bollocks to the lot of them. People are run out of town on CGN for far less.

But thanks for the laugh. :)

 dangertree give them the :kickInTheNuts:

I'm pretty sure that list originated on arfcom. Made up by enthusiasts who pieced it together the best they could. Full of errors but because it's on the 'net people take it as gospel.

It's kind of like using Biggerhammer as an infallible reference. It does have lots of good info, but it has errors too.

I think you are correct… I also believe it is rather old now… and considering manufactures supposedly source parts from various places when there is heavy demand… it can be all over the place…

For instance, I have seen claims of different forge markings from one manufacturer…

You can almost forget forge markings, beyond visual impression, they are all the same (assuming a Made in USA 7075-T6 Aluminum M16/AR15 forging, like a 95314-129). It is who cut the forging to the final machined and finished product that counts. This is less likely to be obvious on the upper, unless a company laser engraves their logo.

I doubt there are any AR15 manufacturers who don't use various the various forge houses at some point of another, sometimes even in the same shipment.

If it says C, the forging was made for Colt, and was either machined in house by Colt, or by a subcontractor, to Colts specifications.

I do see a lot of Brass Aluminum Forging Enterprises pieces in the past few years from Stag and Colt. Also Cerro, Anchor Harvey, etc. Check that link to see what M16/AR15 parts start their life as.

Around 10 years ago we did get 5.56mm lowers from LMT. These where the old non ambo guns. Since the Titusville move in 2003-04 we have built them in house.

What’s with the .308 lowers, I have heard speculation that they are the same. Are they just the same design? Are they from the same forgings? From what I have seen the ambi controls look the same on the LMT MWS and the KAC SR-25. And, I have heard speculation that the two company’s have a working relationship. Then again it is just all speculation and conjecture unless you are willing to confirm or deny anything.

Dnagertree, I am aware… for some stupid reason I was thinking forging houses not machine shops…
