Picked up this 1975(I think) vintage 336 a while ago. Condition is awesome, I don't think it was ever hunted, can't even find a safe kiss on the wood. Someone put a hammer extension on it. In my opinion head and shoulders above any Marlin made now. Here are a few pics.

Must be a Maritime thing, I literally have the same gun same year, got it for a sweetheart of a deal and was told there wasn't even a box of ammo put through it. Apparently was originally bought so the guy would have "something to hunt with" to go drink at deer camp. I mounted a vx2 1-4 on it as the rear iron sight is only adjustable by way of the hammer technique. It's a beauty to shoot and deadly accurate. It makes it out to the deer woods when the weather is nice.
My uncle is willing me his 35. It replaced a 1952 35 that got stolen. His insurance company replaced it. It’s a genuine JM Marlin, pre-Remington (thank God). It’s never seen the light of day and still has the factory sticker and tag attached. That said I told him I’m in no hurry to get it LOL.

Beauty of a rifle I must say,I bought a nice JM marlin 336 in.35 remington on here awhile back,it has the xs sight and ghost ring peep on it,I just love it .before the rifle arrived,I bought a second markin 336 .35 remington that was bought and basically oiled and shoved into the back of a closet,I couldn't say no to that one .addictive for sure lol.
But there aren't enough of them to spill over into the used market and supply all who want them, so thank God Remington did keep making them and Ruger will carry on. My 1894 (.44Mag) was made in the Remington era and it's not bad. Don't miss out on something good while you wait for something perfect.

I still smile AND laugh every time I think about our 35's my friend. And the shipping... Worth EVERY penny!
