Chest Rigs and Mags for your Black Rifle

i tend to try and stack around 11 mags or more but most vests I am running into don't fit 7.62x51 mags very well my 7.62x39 mags fit or barely fit I also use a WW2 Ammo Belt Bandolier with stripper clips you can fit 2 extra mags in ur combat pants one in each leg pocket if need be but if mis stuffed in them they can and will rip through the pocket when fully loaded.

My gear kit is weird it can a mix of German WW2-Present Russian WW2-Present and US Coldwar to Present Gear. I sold off all my Canadien Equipment and Uniforms...

You should see the cross fitters loose their #### when I workout in my carrier and plates.(Fudds react the same at the range) My goal 10 chin ups and 50 push up wearing my 20lbs of gear.

you guys aren't operating hard enough.

speak for your self buddy.

Operators don't have NDs!!

ROFLMAO.....This takes the cake. Sorry to those who don't get it, it's an inside joke. LOL

Thank you ActiveShooter for making my day!!!

You guys are not just training for matches. You are dressed from head to toe like you are mercenaries. I'm not a fud or a troll, just been at this long enough to know that the image is very important and if there is one place where there is a major division in attitude it's amongst firearms owners. Is training with some gear cool? Sure but keep it low profile. Where I shoot there are several ranges for paid members and a few for the general public. Guess what the general public shoots bottles, cans refrigerators, inflatable ### toys and makes a garbage dump out of the ranges available to them. The paid members who don't use those ranges clean up after the useless aholes. A large percentage of firearms owners are morons. Simple truth.

It was probably out of line to jump in the way I did but I remember Alan Rock and Kim Campbell. I remember wondering if we would have AR15's. Receiving a letter in the mail that you are no longer allowed to use your "kit" is not a happy thing. Wondering when the next batch of rules is coming is concerning when you have a significant investment in the sport. So I'm just saying the way the public perceives us, the firearms community is very important. Smile, be polite and act like someone intelligent because like it or not you are being judged.

Okay Fudd/Troll, your right it was completely out of line, so maybe you should stick to what you know best, which according to you is fumbling around with your magazines in your pants pockets on service rifle courses and hiding in the closet from Alan Rock and Kim Campbell, while we all go out and promote our sport in the way WE CHOOSE.

Really though, thanks for coming out ;)

I think everyone who fears this sort of kit, and the guys who wear it, need to look at the bigger picture. Our sport is under attack, but here in Canada firearms ownership is growing at a rate not seen since the mid 90's. Black rifles are a big part of this. Go into your local shop and ask them how long the tactical guns stay on the shelf. Not long. All of these young (30 and under) people who have been playing video games and watching action movies their entire life are grown now, and realize they can go shooting for real. They gasp when they see the AR's or the Tavor, and say "those are legal" "wow". Guess what, they're the future, and they aren't curious about the M77 hawkeye, or the bird gun with a 24" barrel, they want the black gun with the muzzle brake that could beat a door down (hilarious i know, but that's what the youngens buy, the store can't keep them in stock). The sport is changing, and if the community refuses to change with it, then some of us will get left behind. A young kid doesn't get a single shot cooey from gramps as his first gun anymore, he gets a 10/22 and then he asks for a tapco stock to make it look mean and ugly.

My point is this style of tactical shooting, with LBE, and other tactical kit (and "looking like a mercenary" if you insist on seeing it that way), isn't going anywhere, it's one of the newest, most popular, and fastest growing shooting disciplines out there today, and wearing some, if not full kit is all part of the sport, to the point where most local tac shooting groups will not allow newbies to come out without some kind of LBE, otherwise they really do fumble with mags in pockets all day and slow the day down too much. It's a shame the old school shooters cannot see the past repeating itself, it's kind of like kids from the 70's telling their parents Rock and roll was here to stay, and their parents telling them they were out to lunch. Well, Rock and roll stuck around didn't it. Get with the time's gramps!

I'm constantly hoping that someone will mistake me for a mercenary and give me a job.

Funny, the local Range executive reacted very similarly when we started an informal tac shooting group at the range. They called us up, and suggested we start a sanctioned club at the range. We scheduled a meeting and our group reps attended. Well the executive basically brought us in there to say that we scared the crap out of them, the conditions they suggested for forming a sanctioned club were impossible to abide by, and they offered no recourse, and so ultimately an organized sanctioned club would not be happening, even though it came about as a suggestion from them. They then said we could continue with our informal events as long as we followed a special list of much stricter rules that would not be applicable to anyone or any other groups using the range.

Totally true.

99% of all the younger crowd getting into the sport are in it for the most tacticool stuff they can lay their hands on, even if its just an sks with all the tacky fixings or like you said a 10/22 with a kit.

0 to none of the new shooters start out wanting a 5 round bolt action $3000 hunting rifle.

That comes later.

It's funny how these fudds fear it when its pretty evident how the sport is going, and how they fear the public's image.

Reminds me of my younger days when i use to play paintball alot. Back then I got laughed at for wearing camouflage and some old surplus kit to carry stuff in, and all the hardcore paintball oldies would laugh if even you tried to make your paintball marker have a proper stock or resemble ergonomically a real rifle, nevermind carry military kit to carry pods/gear. They said the same thing, that it was bad for public image and that it was a sport not ww3. Look what that became, paintball is now full blown tactical event with markers modeled after real guns and paintball stores selling full LBE kit. I'm sure the bright red jersey wearing paintball old schoolers are still decrying the publics image of them and how downhill their sport has become. Nobody cares about them, and they have either adapted or faded away into jaded old bitterness. I see the same thing happening here.

i'll never be able to live it down will I.

Nope, never!!!

Sorry dude, when Activeshooter said something about it, I just couldn't help myself. Laughed so hard I nearly pee'd.

Exactly the same kind of thing taking place right now man. Dejavu for you eh! For the sports sake i hope the adapt and come aboard, for my own sake I would prefer most of these old bastards just faded away into jaded old bitterness, and hid deep in their closets where no one has to listen to them anymore.

You know, I've been thinking about this thread and all the gear posted here. This may be off topic, and mods, please feel free to move or delete it.

I have no problem what-so-ever with anyone wearing anything to the range as long as they are safe.

I've seen guys kitted out with $3k worth of clothing and gear and that doesn't include the rifle. I usually look like a drunk Hobo with my Zellers jacket and jeans. All summer long I've been shooting in shorts...

I own a chest rig, and I've used it for a few courses, but I don't think I'll ever use it again. If you stop and think critically about what you are trying to accomplish at the range, it may open your eyes to your needs/goals and exactly the kit you should be using when you shoot.

For me, and probably most other posters here, that doesn't involve a chest rig. When in reality would I EVER use one? Probably never.

One of the guys I've taken a few courses with runs everything off a shoulder bag. He had his kit sorted out and his goals in mind when taking his courses. He had everything he needed, and nothing he didn't, and he lost virtually nothing in terms of speed with any of the evolutions we shot.

Just food for thought guys.

I have way to much gear..... but I run low pro most of the times( nice stiff belt my Raven holster and some Tacos) and am huge fan of a good padded battle belt, for belt kit I carry 3 pistol mags and 3 rifle mags in double Tacos, bfg dump pouch, blow out kit,Raven holster

for chest rigs I run a BFG LMAC with 3 tenspeed pouches

for coyote hunting i wear the BFG 6pack under my arm holds my calls gps and a spare mag or two for my xcr and maybe a mars bar

http://www.oneshottactical.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=oneshot&Product_Code=DG-TSP-M4-6&Category_Code=CR

its a super handy piece of gear

I'm actually thinking about using mine when I go hunting. Not only is a spare mag handy if needed, but I have my GPS, rangefinder, wallet, camera, phone, radio, knife, multi tool, water, med kit, and snack all easily accessible on my front. No need to dig around a back pack and make that much more movement and noise.

The only thing that makes me not want to do it, is the fact that most hunters that I'll run into will think I'm a lunatic!

I really should be using a chest rig for work.if just to carry comms, 2 spare mags,

mine doubles as a great hiking vest (has a built in camelback) so besides looking badass when shooting LMAO it doubles as a great hiking camping vest. its one of those in case I may need it one day type of things
