Chest Rigs and Mags for your Black Rifle

in fact I do have a battle belt enroute to Canada. however, expats are suppose to be lowpro. battle belts are not.
chest rig is easy on off. usually just inside the hilux.

right now, everything is in cargo pockets or bat belt. the vest is typical police vests no mounting options.

in anycase, this is something for another topic... as there are no black rifles involved.

And no, I'm not an operator, mainly because I can't grow a beard and I don't have tatts.

Okay Fudd/Troll, your right it was completely out of line, so maybe you should stick to what you know best, which according to you is fumbling around with your magazines in your pants pockets on service rifle courses and hiding in the closet from Alan Rock and Kim Campbell, while we all go out and promote our sport in the way WE CHOOSE.

I think everyone who fears this sort of kit, and the guys who wear it, need to look at the bigger picture. Our sport is under attack, but here in Canada firearms ownership is growing at a rate not seen since the mid 90's. Black rifles are a big part of this. Go into your local shop and ask them how long the tactical guns stay on the shelf. Not long. All of these young (30 and under) people who have been playing video games and watching action movies their entire life are grown now, and realize they can go shooting for real. They gasp when they see the AR's or the Tavor, and say "those are legal" "wow". Guess what, they're the future, and they aren't curious about the M77 hawkeye, or the bird gun with a 24" barrel, they want the black gun with the muzzle brake that could beat a door down (hilarious i know, but that's what the youngens buy, the store can't keep them in stock). The sport is changing, and if the community refuses to change with it, then some of us will get left behind. A young kid doesn't get a single shot cooey from gramps as his first gun anymore, he gets a 10/22 and then he asks for a tapco stock to make it look mean and ugly.

My point is this style of tactical shooting, with LBE, and other tactical kit (and "looking like a mercenary" if you insist on seeing it that way), isn't going anywhere, it's one of the newest, most popular, and fastest growing shooting disciplines out there today, and wearing some, if not full kit is all part of the sport, to the point where most local tac shooting groups will not allow newbies to come out without some kind of LBE, otherwise they really do fumble with mags in pockets all day and slow the day down too much. It's a shame the old school shooters cannot see the past repeating itself, it's kind of like kids from the 70's telling their parents Rock and roll was here to stay, and their parents telling them they were out to lunch. Well, Rock and roll stuck around didn't it. Get with the time's gramps!

Yep, I see more and more people shooting wearing chest rigs at my range. If that is the trend in my small city it must be a reflection of the trend in the larger community. I see absolutely no problem with it. I say gear up the way you have to man and go with it!
 
I think this whole debate is absolutely pathetic. Who gives a flying #### about who does what at a range. I personally don't like bench rest shooting all that much with a rifle and "one magazine", because for me I get bored of it to fast and I prefer to get my adrenaline up and have to shoot under stress. It helps me train my mind for work in different scenarios as well, that don't include firearms. I don't go on these boards putting down others ideal ways of shooting, because who am I? It's not my place to say anything about it. I remember I was at the range about a month or two ago, and a few buddies of mine, and I, were setting up for run and gun. We had set up our barricades all over the 100 yard range (no one was there and usually no one ever is). As we were starting our first run, a guy comes up and starts setting up his gun to bench rest, while we were running a course of fire. We politely told him we were using this range (it's a first come first serve type of deal here and it was decent weather out), so he quietly packs up and goes to the second 200 yard range. Well 20 min later it had started to rain (doesn't bother me any) and he came back and and asked if we could alternate. We do a course of fire or two and then he shoots a bit and repeat. We had no problem. We were in tac gear with our "black rifles"and he was in regular clothes and using a nice tikka. We ended talking about each others side of the sport and why we shoot like we do. At no point did any negativity come up. We even ended up shooting each others guns!
Point is this guy was also older. And did he sit there and bad mouth our chest rigs and black rifles? No he didn't because he probably knew it wasn't his place. So why don't we all grow up and just accept the fact that not everyone is going to like everyone else's way of shooting. Keep it to your selves and stop being the busy body that no one likes. If this guy and my buddy and I could work something out and do two completely different types of shooting at roughly the same time on the same range, then I think certain "individuals" can keep their mouths shut and opinions to themselves. Wearing "tactical gear" is not giving this sport a bad face. How the #### do you think competition equipment came to be? It sure as #### didn't start out with high speed holsters and kydex mag pouches. It started off more then likely guys using old military equipment or home made pouches. Yea some guys use just their pockets, who cares? I surely don't. If that's what you like, hey more power to you. If you like shooting all day using one magazine and talking for 20 minutes between each round, hey more power to you on that as well (or however it is that you shoot), I prefer shooting quickly and building my accuracy while shooting that quickly. That for me is fun, but I will never put someone down for shooting their own way (unless of course it's becoming a safety hazard).

for chest rigs I run a BFG LMAC with 3 tenspeed pouches

for coyote hunting i wear the BFG 6pack under my arm holds my calls gps and a spare mag or two for my xcr and maybe a mars bar

So, one strap over the shoulder, one strap around the torso? Are the mags nice and secure when loaded and bouncing around?

yes over shoulder under and around the torso I carry it under my left arm holds great

At 5 or even 10 rounds each, I don't have enough mags to cover a days festivities without reloading them at least once.

Would've been a good idea, were it not for the stupid mag capacity limits :(
Even with, say, 8 pairs of coupled LAR15's you end up with meager 160 rounds... :)
